[Anime Chat] Lucky Star

If lucky star was an anime with no connections with haruhi, would people be going crazy over lucky star? I mean if lucky star didn't have hirano as the main character voice actor, the director of lucky star(who is the same as haruhi) wasn't the director, and it had no connections with haruhi, would it be that popular?
Don't get me wrong though. I love lucky star. Just wondering...
Also feel free to talk about lucky star and what you think about it.

Just the fact that it was made by Kyoto Animation makes me wanna watch it.
I don't really mind much that Hirano Aya is the voice actor, etc. I'd still watch it.
If it wasn't made by Kyoto Animation, I would only watch it when the series is finished, and not when it's still ongoing.

LOl... I still think it'll be alrite... I mean who can't fall in love with the OP?! xD
Well I don't really pay much attention to who plays who or what guy directs what anime or any of that nonsense so for me the fact that blah blah blah is doing the blah blah blah is of absolutely no importance to me.

The Opening and Ending are very interesting, but story I feels this animation is stuffy.
Those girli's meal time is too long, the back story doesn't know what topic is.
Azumanga Daioh are better than this animation.

Agreed...it feels like it goes on 4 ages but i did find myself chuckling alot...but den agen im a fan of Azumanga Daioh & i seem 2 b enjoying this anime tho...ad opening intro gave me flashes of Melancholy & da song is just plain nutty hehehe...Kona-chan going Ryu on his ass is classic!! xD

Lucky Star's hype stems more from the fact that it came from a pointless 4-koma manga and pre-screening hyped up similarity to the likes of Azumanga Daioh. I don't think most realized that Hirano Aya is voicing one of the characters.
The hype I believe peaked with this rather pointless (but rather hilarious) commercial promo.
I am still in the middle of downloading the first episode of this series but the OP (which I came across a few days earlier) is rather catchy and to quote from my favorite anime blog, "starts off awesome with an op sequence to end all op sequences". Heck...it might just be the next " Hare Hare Yukai".

Love the anime so far. It has an amazing resemblance to animes like Ichigo Marashimaro and Azumanga Diaoh. I have high hopes for this anime. Great antics so far. Love the artwork and short random events taht occur.
The first episode was quite interesting. It wasn't exactly funny all the way from head to tail (humor was interspersed here and there) but there were a lot of mundane and yet interesting stuff being talked that one would have never thought about (like how one eats different types of food). It did make me chuckle when all sorts of food mentioned start popping out of nowhere and into their hands.
And did I mention industrial-strength moe-ness?
Anyhow, like Azumanga Daioh, it starts out low-key and builds up on the humor as the series progresses. I am crossing my fingers that the same applies to Lucky Star.
The ending skit (Lucky Channel) was truly icing on the cake. Akira's reaction and change of mood when confronted with the question was amusing.

I don't really get the story... they are just talking about food most of the time... but the op is great XD

I hope you guys realize that there isn't really a story or plot in this series... If you would insist that there is one then I guess this is one of those "A story about four girls' daily lives" type of thing.
After watching one episode I felt that there is something in this anime that is missing... something like how to properly cut a scene I guess. That lunch break scene was just too long and they just kept on throwing punch lines, that people who are not familiar with the Japanese culture would never understand, without cutting the scene. I felt like they were trying too hard on making the anime feel like its not based off a 4-koma...
Hopefully this series would improve as each episode passes. Then again I'm getting the feeling that if ever this anime would turn into crap the hype would still make this anime look good.

I'm sure most would have already realized that this anime is pretty much a plotless slice-of-life type of anime upon watching the first episode.

Having watched the first episode, I don't see any obscure references to Japanese culture. Foods like cream puffs, ice cream cones, or MMORPG references are pretty much universally understandable by the masses. And Azumanga Daioh had an even larger references to Japanese culture but no one's complaining.
