Nintendo DS
I'm planning on picking up a Nintendo DS around Christmas, and I was wondering if anyone knows if Nintendo has announced any additional colors for the system. I'm not terribly fond of either the blue or the silver color schemes, so I'm hoping that a new color will come out by then that I do like. Otherwise, I may just end up getting the plain silver one. Also, to the DS owners out there, let me know what you think of yours. I'm looking forward to playing the new Advance Wars, Castlevania, Mario Kart, among other titles, like the eventual Zelda title and Mario and Luigi 2.

Nintendo ds is not bad.. the controls and stuff are kinda weird sometimes but other than that itz pretty good system
THe DS is pretty good. If you want to compare the DS and the PSP, a lot of game analysts (is that what I should call the professionals?) are divided between the two. Its basically your preference.
As for the colors, I haven't heard any news on any new color releases. Nintendo usually doesn't bring out the new colors until they see the DS sales dropping, which probably won't be happening till after the holiday season. But who knows...right?

Well, the Japanese DS systems come in graphite, pink, turqoise, white, red, and a couple of Pokemon varieties. Region free, too. Check it.
Also. My avatar appears to be broken.

It actually looks kinda stupid...having to go from one screen to another just to follow the action....
they could have just made it all on one screen...

Having played the DS a fair bit, I actually think that the dual screen idea is kinda neat. Sure, it isn't entirely necessary, but it works and it adds a fun new dimension to games that would otherwise be stale sequel after sequel. Thanks for the info on the Japanese colors, Orchid, though I dunno if I would want to import one or not, especially seeing as I just found out that they're bundling a new red DS with the upcoming Mario Kart game. The bundle is about $15 cheaper than buying a DS and the game seperately, so I'll probably go with it.
In Japan we have a white, red and I even think a black version.
Here in europe we only have blue, original(silver maybe) and pink...
I haven´t played any games yet. I bought my DS today and the games hopefully will be arriving this week. After I have played them I´ll get back to you =)
but from the short time I tried my DS by starting it up and using the pen to write my nickname and every single info in I got a feeling that if they use this techniqie correct it would be really really great.
And now when "good" games are starting to appear it´s only a waste not to own a Nintendo DS.

Touch it... JAJAJAJA! LOL
I think they're doing a DS & Mario Kart bundle in Novemberish The DS color is like red/silver ish. If you don't mind importing it go check out http://www.lik-sang.com/list.php?nav=left_sub&category=273& quite a few color selection there.
Zepher, I can understand your difficulty with the DS touch screen, because obviously if you can't master a little old keyboard, you're definitely not cut out for higher functions like touch screens. Once you get a little older and your motor skills develop, maybe then you'll be able to figure out how to use a little stylus on a screen.
I have a Nintendo DS myself and it's not that bad i mean most games are fun to play on it.It's cool that you can touch the screen.
I think that as long as the games find innovative ways to use the touch screen, or even just to make game play faster and simpler, than the idea is a success. On top of that, the system costs half as much as the PSP, and the games peak at $40, as far as I've seen. I love the way they used the touch screen to speed up play in Advance Wars. Being able to tap and move your units is a lot faster than cursor scrolling.
I like the DS^^ I bought my little sister one for her birthday and I wish I kept it lol. The dual screen is a neat little idea. We don't know anyone else who has one though so the chat feature-thingie has never been used. There's a few games coming out on it that I would like to play though, so I'll have to raise money for it. All in all, I think it's worth the money.
Agreed. Compared to other comparable handhelds, its definitely a good value.
