cars, motorbikes and gas prices
Well if you want safety over price then it would be right to get a car. but if you want price over safety then get a bike. In my opinion thought I think it would be best to pay the price and get a car where it's safer. OH.. sure~ it's expensive. but the price of the car and maintenance is a whole lot better than the price of your life.
I'd go for the bike. I think it's more fun, you use less gas and as long as you ride responsibly, it's fine
just that you can't ride all year round

Yeah, I heard from my friend as we were leaving school today that gas was going to go up to $4.00 a gallon! O_O I'm really starting to get scared. The sad thing is that there are more efficient ways to get around without gas, but since there so much greed involved in the oil industry theres no way it's going to be discarded .

I haven't really been up to date with the gas prices, but I think they were going up to $4.00 or something where I live... which is just plain old ridiculous. Be better off taking public transport or a bike than having to top up your tank every week and paying $80 every time you do.
Get a hybrid car. Its more expensive then a standard car but it has very good millage. Plus its quiet and comfortable to drive. With the increasing fuel prices the best way to get around from my opinion is bus and train. It is still the cheapest way of getting around.

It has come to the attention to many that some food crops are being used as alternatives to fossil fuels, making them biofuels. But making biofuels is an inefficient way to produce gas because only some parts of the plant are used. Particularly the edible ones, creating a food crisis all over the world. I wouldn't use cars or motorbikes. I'll just stick to bicycles. So in a little way I can help control the oil price hikes.

@zyd: yeah i love it! she's my baby.
he was refering to motocycles, in some states there is a no law against lane splitting (riding down the dividing lines), so i traffic jams motorcycles can keep moving, while the cars remain stuck. this is very dangerous though, and not for an inexperience rider.
maybe you should look into the research on hybrids. in the end you end up paying more, even though you pay for less gas, because of all the additional costs of the hybrid technology. it's better to get a high mileage car, like a honda fit, or even accord. toyota's sedans are even a better choice than a hybrid.
spudsBikes can't take me into Pittsburgh from 30 miles out. Get a car, but one that gets 35 mpg or something.

Well, motorbikes are cheaper and are easier to keep in good condition.
Even though it DOES have a risk, driving poses as a risk, too. I think motorbikes are good (as long as you know how to use them). They're not so good if you have to transport many people. (Obviously, there's only one seat. Well, you could probably seat two if you want.)
I think the real question people should be asking is, "What are better ways to get around, WITHOUT using gasoline and polluting the environment?"

I really can't wait until the day hybrids become cheaper so that I can get one. Gas prices are killing me, especially when I have to fill my car up every week because I have to drive to college and work.
Car prices are hectic and petrol is killing me as well, the price has gone up by at least 30% in last 4months here where I live!
Cars are expensive to maintain especially if you have the most horrible service in the world because the moronic mechanics don't listen to you and you pay more for their damn labour than parts and they just screw up your car anyway! Stupid mechanics!

I cant help to think that we are screwed over when to petrol. :D but you just adore sports cars and we cant help it.
I don't think it is not normal for a person to drive a bike... I mean, anyone can choose any means of transportation he finds necessary as long as one is careful. You may drive a car but being reckless, you may end up in an accident as well.
Well, if you think that way, then it better for you to drive a car instead of risking your life to save gas. The prices are really high now
, I agree with that. But it would really be favorable for you to save your life rather than saving gas and money...

I have a firebird. It's got a blown engine at the moment, but it will be horrible to fill with gas later.

I do want a motorcycle.

Get a car with a diesel engine. They can be run by peanut oil. But then again, a ridiculously small car would work too seeing as they have great mileage and smaller gas tanks.
