Clannad Anime Discussion
I started watching the first few episodes yesterday, and i've got to say, i really enjoy it. reminds me a bit of the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.

Eh? Ayu=Nagisa??
I think Fuko is more Ayu-ish than Nagisa.

Really?
I think Fuko's more like Mokoto, since they both start off "hating" him and all that...
...even if Ayu and Fuko are both in comas...
which would mean for all the Fuko-fans that she's gonna die >=D

O_o; Nuuuu~!
Her character may be somewhat related to Makoto, but then her situation is definitely the same as Ayu's. That alone decides that Fu-chan will not die!(i hope)
Fu-chan is Clannad.>:O

The creators of this anime are good with sarcasm. It does give you the same impression as Kanon.
Really? because Nagisa is definitely gonna be the one at the end...what with the whole hill metaphor and all that... xD
and out of five girls, you just know one of them is going to be a sad story.
yup, this anime is a lot like Kanon...but that's not a bad thing if you liked Kanon!

As much as I love Key's work, the fact of the matter is that Clannad does resemble Kanon and AIR - the beginning is choke full of those moments where you look at the girl and think they're not normal and weird (and for those nay-sayers that would squarely be filed in the "braindead girls moe catering" category). Characters like Fuuko, Kotomi and Yukine are quite typical of these "moe catering" characters. As much as game vets like us knows the cause of it and knows where the stories changes from the "moe stage" to the "serious stage", let's not drum up the hype because this surely setups the disappointments and for the backlash to come.
I've got to raise the question whether there needs to be that shift. I guess it makes sense when you want somebody to buy into a character and like the girl at the first impression. Yeah that's the dating sim deal I suppose. Well yes I guess one should expect what one would normally receive from a Dating Sim Anime, while they may be serious or dramatic at times it comes down to the idea that the creator wants at least one of the girls to end up with the hero as a winning scenario. I fully agree with the concept of not stirring up hype, it builds unreasonable expectations for things that are supposed to be fun for the fans, which is why I approach everything with cautious optimism or try to. I actually didn't mean to try and answer the question myself, but got a bit carried away sounding like a know it all when I really know nothing about this genre, but I really need to be getting to bed so I'll leave it as is.

Er... Clannad is unpredictable!(i'm trying real hard here) so you can't absolutely say in finality that fu-chan will die.>:O
Yep, that's the trend for key's works... i hope they let sunohara have the sad story and let him die instead of teh girls.lol

Nope, but i can suggest with good reason! lol
and sunohara dying wouldnt be sad, it would be more comic relief
+ then who will get completely pwned by all the women?

Clannad bears a close resemblance to Kanon, and some similarity to The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. Not surprising for its under the same production team.
I feel there was not much originality from the production team, Kyou Ani (i think). There are a few copy-and-paste characters, example Kitagawa (Kanon) and Sunohara (Clannad). Similar design for Ayu Tsukumiya I(Kanon) and Furukawa Nagisa (Clannad). Similar Character for Mai (Kanon) and Yuki (Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi).
A lot more to be pointed out, but i listed afew. Just glad that the storyline isn't the same style. So do look forward to Clannad ^^
To those who dont like Kanon. *What?* It makes me cry..
