The only problem with this type of anime is that the main characther always ends up dead or something. Clare is surley going to die in some way at the end, maybe she will sacrifice herself for something or she will just end her life and let Raki be the one to kill her.

The first season is probably going to end when almost everyone(Claymores) dies... The second season is going to take a long time to be made because the anime is going to be almost in the same part as the mangá

Thou Shonen and Seinen is basically what was defined above, it adapted a lot more into these titles now. (And there arnt just 2 types of manga ;P)

Shonen are for boys, usually about boys, fighting or doing sports, usually with the basic "train, fight, lose, trian moar, win, comic relief, fight lose, train, fight moar repeat until they reach SSj4" plotline. People usually arn't killed but defeated, or turned to the good side or whatever, always use the same cliché characters like Vegeta (once bad, now good), or the always goodygoody f*gs like Goku or Naruto. and they always have useless but good looking women around saying "OH WOW" and "X-kun OHNOES".
These are the animes where you can easily predict what will happen if you saw 2 of these animes: DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece.

Seinen is an anime that may revolve around fighting or anything just like shonen but usually involves simply "more", for the older male audience. Tragedies, drama, real romance, multi-layered plotline, way deeper characters, and real twists. It usually needs your brain to work when reading/watching them, while you can enjoy shonen mostly because the good fighting scenes.

No matter how you look at it Claymore is stuck between the two genres.
While it completly revolves around fighting, and disincluding Teresa's arc, while it had Raki it was nothing more then a mere shonen with reversed genders.(and blood)
Teresa's arc on the other hand easily made a twist that nobody had foreseen if I may say, we may have thought that Teresa will die, and we may have thought that Clare wants to avenge whoever killed herself, but in no way anyone thought this is how it would've happened.
If Ophelia's arc was stretched out into 4-5 episodes liek how usual shonens would've done it would make a perfect scenario for a real shonen. Except the fact that Clare's "powerup" left Ilena armless and she (probably) died right after. Also Ophelia's character was deeper then how it would appear in a shonen.

Since this is the anime section I can't really go forward, but to say the least, it'll have its own SUPERB shonen moments, while also having its definate seinen moments. The manga itself was between the two, slightly on he shonen side until now, being released in a shonen magazine made that obvious. But it was also obvious where does it go, when the changing fo magazine came up, it almost gone to Ultra jump (seinen magazine). Even thou it not yet happened, with the next big happening in the manga, I think it'll be made a fact that it isn't for under 18 boys, and definetly making the gap between the Naruto/Bleach like shonens and Claymore wider and wider.

What makes people say Claymore is DBZ like is definetly only the anime, thanks to the yoki release becoming colored, and actually look exactly like how Saiyan's "power levels rising" scenes looked like. Otherwise, I don't see much in common. These yoki, spirit power, powerlevels are simply needed in anything that involves fighters being compared, but the ss1, ss2, shikai, bankai type of powerlevels arent, and gladly, Claymore don't have those.

I really doubt Raki will become a male claymore, and if he is goning to become one it would be really lame. Why would Raki be any different from the past male claymores that awakened? I can see him get power in some other way though.

ahhh, Claymore is a Seinen btw. Just the idea of a serious woman on a journey like this, compared to kids powering up... is rather... XD

I haven't touched the manga, so I won't be answering in it anyway, so I would sure as hell would not click any of the manga threads on Claymore.

Well right now I can't really argue with Claymore. It basically satisfies all my needs in terms of an anime, that being story and quality animation. I do agree with everyone else that Raki will most likely play a very important part in the story later on but I am currently more concerned about the development of claire in regards to strength. I understand her past lineage is quite the amazing one but thats the past. So I hope they come up with a satisfactory way of her development.

From the animation to the story, to the music, everything is perfect ^^ .

I already don't like Riful since she's your average sociopath that creates Awakened Ones through torture with her deformed boyfriend Dauf. Poor Jean, Kathia, and those other two. At this rate, Jean's going to Awaken quickly. After seeing the preview, I wonder how Galatea's going to enter the stage. I seriously can't wait to see episode 16 and how Clare will beat the hell out of Dauf.
