[Manga Discussion] Claymore The Manga
Claymore Manga is already on chapter 73.
anyone who is not reading this after watching the first 15 episodes should be shot.
cause the manga is awesome. and there will most likely be a second season for the anime to even come close to where the story is right now.
Oh, by the way, there are much better scenes in the manga when it comes to action and shock, plus, in the manga, the Awakened beings are much more awesome as compared with the anime, in this case, B&W drawings just makes the Awakened Beings so much more bad ass looking.
So. What chapter are you on, what are the things you like so far in the manga, compare the manga with the anime? How is your feeling after each chapter, was it better than watching the anime?
Anything you would wish the author to draw on, is it better to read the manga than watch the anime or vice versa?

I'm on chap. 73 too. ^_^
The anime seems to following the manga right now, which is very nice, as I hate it when animes go off on their own tangents and suck.
Claymores look better in the anime, I think, though I agree about the awakened beings looking better in the manga.
Eh...random thoughts at the moment...the newest Claymores aren't that impressive...sending the bulk of your warriors off to be killed = take what you can get, I guess. Clarice is the weakest, but she doesn't seem to have set aside her humanity like the rest of them have. Something I've always wondered is: who the hell are the guys in black? With the exception of Claire's handler, they look like yoma...

I have a feeling they are the "sucessful" male claymores. They are unlike the others, while most of them have the urge to awaken, it doesn't state in the anime or manga that all males eventually awaken. Some may have suceeded and earned the organization's trust.
At current, it seemed pretty sure that The Organization is holding the power flag in the east. Seeing that they too have Alicia and Beth, controlled abyssal ones making that avantage.
I am thinking it is possible that the Org is actually handled by Male Yomas to attend to the need of protecting humans (this being a surface reason, could be a fake agenda). Seeing what they are doing with Alicia and Beth gives me that suspicion.
Clarice (strangely I thought she was clare's daughter lol.) has so much human feature, judging by how she does not seem to be able to sense yoma, she could be some kinda cross breed of a cross breed, much like Clare, but weaker.

Clarice is absolutely annoying me. Getting her sword stuck in the tree... geez.
The abyssal ones are like ...OMG! Isley and Ligardes must be my most loved male characters ever. I'm rather surprised that Raki is still alive >_>

Ran out to buy the manga from Borders (Berjaya Times Square) after watching 5 episodes of the anime. Wasn't exactly planning to buy Claymore because the reason I was at Borders was to get the latest release of xxxHOLiC and Tsubasa Chronicles manga but after giving a deep thought, decided to give Claymore a try.
The part which sucked was that I did not bring enough cash with me (only enough for the transportation fare and purchase of both TRC and xxxHOLiC manga with a teeny bit extra) and I left my credit card at home. Because of that, I only had enough cash to get Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 of Claymore (stabs self for the credit card oversight!). Planning to apply annual leave this month to get the remaining Claymore volumes (and also more TRC and xxxHOLiC).
Only two volumes and I am already hooked onto the Claymore manga. I'm dying to read the Northern Campaign arc since I heard that it's going to feature loads of other characters.

@ Dioma: Who was Ligardes again? ^^; I'm actually not too surprised about Raki being alive - the way Clare kissed him right before they split up makes it likely that they're a romantic couple, and most mangas won't split up the main couple. After that time jump, Raki would be at about the right age, plus the fact that he's been learning swordplay from Isley. Then again, that cover of volume 11 of Clare and Jean hints that they might also have been a romantic pairing, however brief.
@ Omnidevil: Good point there - it fits with the fact that Alicia and Beth don't have any sense of "self". An army of extremely powerful soldiers who have no ambition except to obey your commands; who wouldn't want one?
I kinda wonder if Clarice will turn out to have the same ability as Clare (being able to awaken limbs but still able to turn back into a Claymore). If she's more human, she might be able to control her yoma side better. But then I'm not really sure, because she doesn't seem to possess the same strong will as Clare, and she is rather pathetic as a Claymore (getting her sword stuck in a tree, as Dioma mentioned).
Well...it's open for speculation...

I am guessing LIgardes = Rigald The Lion King.
I wish Claire would not have kissed him lol, that was a waste, looks to me Ophelia was right when she said he was her plaything, bloody nympho dynamites.
I am wondering what the story will progress into? Would Raki become a yoma/claymore male, so to say? It is strange how the both do not try to eat him.

At current, I am wondering if Clarice is indeed a failure, she seems to have more human in her, she can't sense yoma energy, since even Riful considered the Organization to be never oversighted, it is possible Clarice is a one off production for keeping number 4 Miata in check, it was a predicatable outcome, or rather, an intended outcome.
Her ability may be to compensate for the mental instability that is in Miata, seeing how she claims her to be mom.
There is also speculation that Raphaela is not actually dead, in the manga, she seemed to hug Luciela to death, which is strange. This may prove her ability is indeed the strongest among claymores. This makes her unlikely to submit to death. She may have just deserted unknowingly.
Galatea is doing that, it won't be surprising considering that Raphaela excels in yoma energy hiding.
Note, that Riful mentioned that the Seven (Clare, Miria, Helen,Deneve, Tabatha,Cynthia, and whoever else) did not have a yoma energy pattern, this appears to that of an abyssal one, which we can safely assume that there are far superior forces at work right now, to be exact, if the organization seeks to immediately fill in the filler spaces from below Claymore numbers 30 -47 we could have some 53 Claymores now. Out of which the 7 plays a part. (excluding Galatea, who most likely will become an enemy force judging from what Miata is charged with.)
I'd be really disappointed if Raki turns out to be a yoma/claymore male, because you've gotta have some variety in characters - if everyone worth anything in the story is part yoma, then it'd get kinda boring. Raki could be the human who can still kick yoma ass using just his sword skills. It could be that all humans smell good to yoma (like all chicken smells the same to humans) or maybe he's like Watanuki from XXXHolic.
Hmm...Clarice. You're probably right, but it's uncertain how long that's going to last. She's already beginning to see Miata as a monster, and since Miata's specialty is "quick perception", she probably knows how Clarice thinks.
The Organization is very cautious - even when it seems certain a claymore has died, they still want the corpse to verify it, so if Raphaela is still alive, the organization probably knows. Then again, we haven't heard any mention of Raphaela, so she might not be dead.
53 Claymores...that's quite a pool of characters to draw on. Will we actually get a chance to meet them all or will there be another catastrophe where a whole bunch of them die?

There will most likely a massive stakeout, at current, with Riful hunting all the awakened materials in the claymore ranks, there must contsantly be new replacements, guessing from this, the number of claymores are growing, but since The Org is relying on Alicia and Beth (seeing how useless no.3 is), and having Miata and Clarice as the backup, the rest of the single digits are expandable, they may even consider them useless and used as a form of decoy for Riful to hunt down.
Possibly at least, from that, the awakened beings that died, and the ones that are replaced along with Isley and Priscilla's control of the South, there will be a big war that will come.
Riful mentioned of her intent to tip the balance, this mean she will not give up on her plan to accumulate army power, and she is gonna fight back regardless of what hope she has against Priscilla (who by now is the strongest among Awakened ones)
Judging from that, the Abyssal ones, there are 4 of them right now, Isley will indoubtedly be following Priscilla's command to take all power, and will not hesistate if she commands him to bring another war, and this time, The Org will be ready.
Since 7 years have passed, it is safe to assume that Alicia and Beth have already excelled in their Soul Link, most probably already far superior to what they defeated the Awakened ones with in the North War.

4 Abyssal ones? Alicia and Beth aren't really acting under their own command, so do they count? And there's that issue of the soul link - while Alicia is fighting Beth stands in one place. Riful might have a hard time without reinforcements, but if Isley and Priscilla fight the twins, the twins would probably lose...
I'm having a hard time telling if Priscilla loves or hates the claymores. From what we see of her (crying a bit when the roadblock claymores all "died", taking Raki along), she seems to like the claymores. Or maybe that's just the side she's showing Raki, because if she really didn't want the war, she could have just commanded Isley to stop. Or maybe this relates to that odd quirk of hers that Riful told Clare and Galatea: Priscilla mowed entire villages to the ground with hardly any effort, but left the young girls untouched.

I couldnt wait for the anime. i started to read the manga after eps 13. does anyone has any idea when the next couple chps. are coming out? ive read that its gonna be in a few months... o____O
but seeing the anime is gonna end at eps 26, it will prob end at the time jump. so i guess they have lots of time to get the manga ahead. but still the wait is too painful. i do think Rika is gonna play an important role in the later on story. maybe he is gonna be the only good awakening being? hehehe... that would be awesome. as far as i can tell the claymore and the awakenings have too much of a power level different. it's starting to feel like bleach, naruto or one piece.
well, claymore does have a ton of deaths tho. bad and good guys. oh my Teresa and Flora... =(

Agreed that alot of deaths do take place in the Manga. For me the loss of Jeane was hard. I would have loved to see her character develop some more. Overall I am very impressed with the direction the writers are taking with Claymore, just wish they would release the manga much sooner, as the wait is very frustrating.
So does anyone have any ideas as to who are the people that control the organization. Are they former claymores themselves or are they possibly . . . humans? Would be very interesting if the latter were true.

that control the organization. Are they former claymores themselves or are they possibly . . . humans?
I theorized that they being two possible beings.
Male claymores that did not awakened and were put in power of position to rule the org as they can't fight, but retains power so they don't awaken.
or
deformed humans who rule under the shadows
in my opinion, the first one is likely as compared with the rest.
Since Claymore is currently running in Shonen Jump, does anyone know which groups are subbing the manga?
MangaSketchbook is doing it.
is chapter 74 out yet?
