Code Geass Season 2 ending...

I have watched the season finale of season2. Lelouch died because he is the final key to his Zero Requiem. he carries all the blame on himself in order to make the world one again a beautiful world. but seriously why the director must him die in the end la!cant believe it. however, he has the geass so i think he didnt die.
tt is one point where he say suzaku will have his geass. but did he really pass his geass on to suzaku is a mystery. hoping the guy on the horse cart with C.C is lelouch...
overall the season is a exciting one but juz a bit less exciting than the 1st season.

I was thinking that too about the driver of the cart. I hope he is still alive this was one of the best series I've ever seen the only other series that made my heart pound from the story was deathnote hope there will be a season three or at least an OVA
Both of you didn't understand about Susaku's Geass, but I won't explain. By the way, you should start this topic with the Spoiler tool.
By the way, I LOVED this finale, the role of redeemed tragic villain was awesome, I didn't expect that from Lelouch. Great ending, great OST.

I think it's pretty obvious Lelouch didn't die. I mean, at the end we see CC talking to Lelouch (and that's not prove enough, I know, she could be talking to Lelouch's memory) and then we see that little pink paper bird. It's obviously a sign that Lelouch is with her, why else would that be there? CC was not fond of Nunnaly, why would she keep that memento of her? The only possible explanation is that Lelouch is driving the cart!
Sorry, I'm in denial here... and a little crazy. Lelouch can't die!

Don't you think that leaving Lelouch alive wouldn't lessen his sacrifice?
I think that he really died, in fact thats the beauty of everything it's what puts him above everyone else.

I think his sacrifice is the fact that he can't enjoy the new world he created with the people he loves. Everyone thinks he's dead, so the only one left for him is CC. But really, after everything's he did it was only fair that in the end he lives to enjoy a little part of it.

I think that Lelouch did the same thing that MArianne did, because in the first season C.C could talk to Marianne maybe the same goes with Lelouch now because you do see C.C praying in the end when lelouch dies. I also find it cool that both Nunally and Lelouch had the same plan in the end. Best ending ever, never would have thought that.
On my own, I think that Lelouch died. Like Vagoverto said, this action puts Lelouch above everyone else. Moreover he knew he had to die after all the blood he carried on his hands (I don't know if we can say that in English too). And I think this is the best end we could make after all. Only Suzaku, his bestfriend, could do it. What a beautiful end for Lelouch!
I feel so bad now that Code Geass ends but it will stay in my memory for a long time. I watched a lot of animes and I can say Code Geass is the best, ever. Really. Never an anime makes my heart pound like that.

I'm really not sure if Lelouch died or not. The way that C.C. pitched her voice at the end when she said "Right, Lelouch?" makes me think that she was indeed talking to the driver of the cart. The point about R2 possibly being his name is also very, very thought-provoking. Also, even before I watched through the whole thing and saw C.C. up there, I kind of wondered at how they were masking the driver's appearance. They def want people to think about it, at the very least. The thing that makes me think that he IS dead is how C.C. was praying right before he died, and crying. If she had passed on her Code to him, or knew that he was alive and would survive it, what drove her to the point of crying? Others may diss the ending, and while I liked the original much more than R2, I think that this is a great ending to the series. My friends and I all knew Lulu was going to have to die, anyway.
Personally I think Lelouch dying is a more fitting ending than him living. He sacrificed himself for the people of the world, and him somehow living would, like vagoverto mentioned, would lessen the impact on his decision. He lead the world into an age of peace, at the price of denying himself from entering this world himself. Honestly I think that's far more meaningful than him living.
Also his plan just seemed brilliant, I bet the fact that his carrier had that slide was part of the plan too, so he could talk to Nunally one last time :O.

Great ending for an awesome series. I thought the ending was great, even though I was expecting the way it would end, so the ending was not as dramatic for me, but still was great. That sucked that lelouch had to die, but like everyone is saying, then it wouldn't of been a great and dramatic ending, and his resolution and plan would go to waste.
Since you said that, it made me wonder too, so I went back and watched that final scene, you're right her tone of voice seems kind of awkward, a tone more directed to someone than to speaking to a mere memory.
Also how everyone is talking about the person holding the reigns, i didn't notice him until I read this thread, hmmm, interesting thought, but I still think he's gone.
Anyways Lelouch rules! That was totally die hard man!

The ending was one of the best anime endings I had seen so far. My only gripe was that at the end they still did not tell us what C.C real name is. I hope that if the DVD sales are high then the anime producers would consider making a recap movie or even a OVA explaining what happens after Lelouch died (that is if he really did died).
This ending is part of my expectation. i did expect Lelouch to die but together with C.C and let Nunnaly govern the world. but too bad he is too kind to take others and sacrifice with him... it's really sad and lovely ending... Lelouch is just too kind in his own way
WHAAAT! LULU DIED?!? I can't believe it! I hate it when the protagonist dies! I cried when Nelo died in Dog of Flaunders...

Awesome ending, it glorified Lelouch as the hero when the other chracters didnt, and effectively died for the sake of everyone else.
Furthermore it left us questioning whether Lelouch is really dead or not... thats an ending
