Avatar crackdown
Starting tuesday morning I will be running a script to crack down on avatar abuse. Despite there being a notice not to upload an avatar over 30KB there have been users with ridiculously huge avatars showing complete disregard for the rules.
So, for my own amusement the script will dish out random punishment in relation to filesize to users with huge avatars, from paper fines to bans and everything in between. After that point the limit will be enforced by the server automatically.

And he's not joking. So all of you guys who uploaded an avatar heavier than 30kb should seriously consider changing it with a lighter one asap.

Well, a rule is a rule, and that has to be followed.
...But I sure do hope that Bantam, or somebody else, uploads a list with some of the possible punishments... Im curios, ye know...

Ah. Its great to have the 30kb rule. I was very sick of the 1MB(!) avatars all over MiniTokyo. Glad we have some good rules here.

i just thought that if it was over 30 then it would automatically not accept it and just keep the recent one or give the user none...(that's what always catches me ^^;; )
In any case this just proves the existence of lazy/stupid/dontgiveadam people...

so it actually uploaded it whether it was a large file or not. lol.
i did mine to fit the 30kb requirement so you can't punish me =P

How the hell can you get 30 kilobytes in there? I can hardly get 10. o.O
Is it ok if an avatar is 35kb?

Are you blind? This is not a misuse of power. This is called enforcement of rules.
The 30 KB max filesize rule is clearly stated in front of your eyes when you upload your avatar and yet you decide that you wanted to be smart and upload an avatar that goes up to 1 MB (especially animated .gifs). There's no blocking of avatar uploads over 30 KB and you guys just decide to push the envelope up to the point of absurdity.
