As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

I found out about the "real world of anime" when i was 12 [2004]. Now i have always loved Japan ever since i was a small child, but I had no idea that there was so many more anime than just Inuyasha and Sailor moon!

And thus is the intro on how i discovered the wonderful world of anime

I was 12 and it was July, i was at a local grocery store when i saw a wierd magazine that was in "right to left" format.
Yup, it was Newtype USA [FYI: I dont buy newtypeUSA though].
My curiosity led me to a whole new world of the japanese cartoons AKA "ANIME" [as well as manga]

And that's how i found anime, so how about you?

I think there are several thread on what the first anime ou saw or manga you read on both this section and the manga section.. same answers apply no? -_-

My first real anime taste once again was Voltron.. First uncut piece of work that woke me up at the age of 7 I think...

Meh... I'll reply anyways... XD

I first found out what the term Anime was when I was around 6 or 7 [1996-1997]. After watching Sailor Moon, that's when I figured out that I've been watching Anime the whole time, ever since my first Anime in 1992-1993 which were either Speed Racer or Daimos. Yup, the Anime classics!

I don't know for sure whether i realised at that time that "this" was anime, but my first brush was when i was little...around 8? 9?
i watched dragon ball...we all gotta start somewhere...
and haha i even watched sailor moon...and who could ever forget doraemon...
my mum used to ban us from watching doraemon ^_^;
but we all know that doing those kind of things only make it more irresistable...
so i grew up singing the rather famous opening of doraemon...complete with the 'ang ang ang' thing and the squeaky voice....
oh how times...and i've changed...but doraemon still holds some small little place in my heart...

Okay I'm old as hell, and I've known about anime for probably 15 years but I never watched it because it really didn't interest me much and the stuff that was on TV just seemed really juvenile, however I was turned on to Bubblegum Crisis a few years back. Ever since then I've been hooked :D

Well I am probably older than most people here also and I found about anime just by watching TV because I lived in Korea and they show anime during days and at stores they sell anime products so I was basically exposed to anime my whole life and when I moved to America I realized I gotta search for it now -_-

I used to love those Dodgeball anime, ranma, jurrasic soccer anime and the anime with racing cars that little one you control with remote control... Slam dunk and DBZ was wut everyone was reading as manga back dan also and many more ^^;;

Let's see...I thank Yu Yu Hakusho for giving me a step into anime. It was only after I found out such shows were categorized as "anime" that I looked for more on Toonami and found Rurouni Kenshin (I've kept up and discovered more anime ever since). All this happened back when I was in seventh grade and going to eighth...that makes it about 3 years now? 0_0

My first time on anime, when I was 6-7 years old kid? (forgot) and watching Doraemon and Sailor Moon *lol* then to the next level which is Pokemon, and now onto the new generation anime :D... Those anime were good at that time, I missed them :P

And before Pokemon, I remembered I watched Magic Knight Rayearth but I didn't know before that those are anime at first >_< I just thought them as a normal cartoon
