I had an anime experience. Does it mean I'm obsessed?

I know it's difficult NOT to have had an experience that resembles anime or manga 'cause they've done almost everything. But if you do, are you comparing your ordinary life with anime?

About fourteen years ago, I had typhoid fever. First night I was a little over 40C. Didn't feel my body, my mind was numb, my earing was minimized and my sight was blurry. I thought at that moment "Can't feel a thing. Where are my senses? Am I going to die? Will I turn into a corpse that breaths?"

Anime I thought of: Saint Seiya, Sanctuary Saga. Chapter where Ikki fights Shaka.

Am I obsessed? Nooo....

Of course, this topic is about you having an experience and thinking inmediately of an anime episode :)

For the most part, I think most of the stuff depicted in anime are euphoric, unless it's an action anime like gurren lagann, NGE or something. On one extreme, the girls are drawn to their cutest/most beautiful, and on the other, same goes for guys in girl-oriented animes. You could say walking to school with a friend could resemble some of the stuff seen in anime, but I hardly ever see any resemblances.

I can't think of any animes that have some sort of similarity to my life, but if I started watching an anime right this moment, and I bet a few minutes or so into the first episode, I could say "Oh, that's happened to me once."

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien sounds like a good one but I personally am taking a liking to Black lagoon and Witchblade because oddly enough I went from loving romance ecchi anime to action violence and other. Now I like Female protagonists.

Well its good to hear that you are in better health now. But I guess relating your illness to an anime is a little on the obsessed side. I mean a lot of us get colds, but I have never related one to an anime before. LOL!

Heh... don't worry, your not obsessed. Well, maybe just a little ^^

I don't think it's strange for someone to compare their experiences in life with similar events in books, music, anime, manga etc. In fact, I think it's perfectly natural. But if anime is the only thing you look at for comparison, then I don't think it's an exaggeration to state that your slightly obsessed (and I use the term slightly very loosely). But still, the act of comparing is perfectly natural and there is no shame in that. Even if the only thing being compared is anime... I think.

It's difficult to say, but I think it's right, I am obsessed with FF anyways :P I have had dreams about being in a FF world, kissing tidus... (you know in the lake, I was yuna) or transforming into ninja or something (if ffx2 when you can change the style of the girls, samurai or whatever it is called). I don't usually have ff dreams, but it doesn't go a single day without a visit on a game website, listening to music or watching video.

Once, I dreamed that I was the Red Ranger, from the first Power Rangers.

That was better than any anime experience P(T_T) emoticon

Me too, quite a bunch of time though. When I was in elementary I used to dream about Tekken, but in middle school, its hunterxhunter and fatal frame II (still freaks me out till now). But now, in high school, most of them are Prince of Tennis (I do wish this kind of dream do come true > <)

Having an "anime experience" may not necessarily mean you're obsessed. I think you've just finally realized the true appeal of the anime genre. Many of the series out there aren't as comic-y as US series, they have a lot more of a "real life" tone to them. If someone gets shot in an anime, they get hurt, sometimes killed. The bullets don't just bounce off, or the guy doesn't just appear in the next scene. It's a lot easier to liken real experiences to anime in that sense.

Most of the people in my life resemble characters from various animes!! Unfortunately, when I say they 'resemble' anime characters, no, I'm not referring to their physical characteristics/outward appearances (I've yet to meet someone who's got natural green/pink/blue hair O_o); rather, their personalities. So if you think YOU'RE obsessed.. Wow, I must sound like some kinda super ultra hikikomori otaku or something, huh? :x

Thats kind of funny and scary i thing.. haha, but I really like when you experience things and situations similar to the ones in an anime
