Can apes hold the future?
As long as we are not able to garantee the future of the planet where we live, we also cannot garantee our life in other. Like one said: "Humans are like cancer"...
But there is hope, and it is inside of the hearts with pure spirit, people that can feel the environment, see the suffering and what we need to do. So many have lost their souls in poor causes...The planet is dying.
We may imagine the ones who hold the knowledge, but unfortunately the power is in the hands of the mass, the great majority of people in our society, and they do not care about what they do to preserve the future, because his/her neighbour do not care either.
Education is the key for a better world, but if it cannot be understood, only apes could hold the future.

In response to your main topic.. Nature will take over no matter what once humans are gone. It will reclaim the planet and all existence of us will one day be gone much like those before us..
I don't think any other intelligent life ( by human standards ) will honestly take over our planet.
You should check out a documentary called "Life After Humans" it aired on the History channel ( you might be able to rent it at a library, if not I know for certain you can buy it at their online shop ). You might be interested in it. It shows what will more than likely happen once humans are extinct/dieing out.
Anyway, everything that lives in this world is life. And where life exist, death exist. 2 sides of the same thing can't exist without each other. So it's not supposed to be a surprise that humans will die out one day, and probably everything in this world as well. There might even be a time when the atoms that makes this world will somehow 'die'. Who knows.
Anyway, I don't think apes will hold our future. Perhaps some other lifeform but not apes. It's possible that species will be from our genus as well, but to a different species. The world has it's own way to play with it's residents.
As for society, there still exist some considerate amount of people who care about this world and what we're discussing about but a lot doesn't care anymore. Those who doesn't care are those who are engulfed by the things that we humans create to fill our love of the so called worldly posessions. They don't realize the world itself is at danger.
Education. Education is a word to describe knowledge learnt/learning knowledge. At least, that's what it is used for. Yet, most of what we know now is what we summarised with our own understanding, with our own limitations. So what can really save us from our own destruction? I don't know, the only thing I know is if everyone is still blind to what our surrogate home needs, we will perish. And yes, by that time, other species will become the dominant species on earth.
I fell like all I've done is add some question marks. *Sigh*

I don't think that apes will be able to hold our future though, so our best chance is for us to find a way to show others our points and hope for the best.
I think it would be good if there were more people who are for these causes to spread the information about it, rather than gather people who already agree on it to say they wish to make it better. What possible hope can we have to let others know about them if we don't send a message to others? Many people seem to not support things because they don't even know there are people who share their concerns. They feel they are alone and don't do anything about it.
I think not that people don't care, so much as some of those people might not understand why something is needs action taken against or for it. It's our job to let people be informed of causes we hold important and try find a way to improve the quality of life ^_^.
So aren't apes like dominating the world?
We may be a cancer to the planet, but there is no way that cancer can win. Not the way humans are and not the way the planet is. Life in the future may be very different to what it is now - but the planet will still be there
gwenibeWe may be a cancer to the planet, but there is no way that cancer can win.
Actually, a cancer may win. The easiest way humans can destroy the planet and in the process destroy ourselves, is to just be ignorant and continue polluting and destroying things, make more wars and keep killing people.
BTW, I don't really think we are like apes AssasinXXX.

How can philanthropy be madness?
One way or another it is still a good deed no matter which angle you look at it. Even if they did it with a hidden agenda they are still helping to improve the life of others. But I do suppose in the end it's the thought that count.
Human being are tougher than what we may think unless some unknown deadly disease attack us or a series of nuclear explosion occur nothing else on this Earth wipe us off (well, at least not entirely). If we're thinking about leaving our home planet, where would we go? I propose we stay. It's better than venturing the unknown world. If we cannot take care of our own planet than what difference does it makes if we move.
And can apes hold our future?
My answer is no. Human being are proven much superior than other apes. It is stated in the bible that human are the one who have power and control over everything that he see. I believe it now more than ever. The fact that the decrease of the animal population and the extinction of some of the species are cause by humans. Thus this means that we do have control of the fate of our planet. Only we can change it.
And education is the key for a better world?
This is not necessarily true. What good would education be if no one have any intention to do something, to change anything. Even a kid in third grade can do something to change the world (I've read an article about this somewhere). What is needed for a better world is a sincere heart and the good will to make this world better.
Ok now that's over with I can go back to being my crazy self.

I don't mean anything, but I was rather certain that there are no other species capable of dominating the entire world like humans do(again, except if you believe in E.T)Even human don't fully dominated over the world, let alone any other creatures that can't use their brain to produce something like tools, etc.

But I don't see the point why apes last longer...They are nearly as complex as human structurally. And without enough brain to adapt nature, they'll extinct faster instead...
Maybe simpler species like cockroach will hold the future
and take a few million(or billion? don't know much about earth history...)years to evolve another intelligent species?

My dear, if you believe in dinosaurs, then you will know they dominated this world before they became extinct. Yet, they didn't produce any tools or anything did they.
Being the dominant species doesn't mean that you dominate the earth that we live on. Being the dominant species mean that what that species do will affect other species around it, and this isn't just limited to one place only, it's on the whole planet. The dominant species are the alpha species on the planet.
But being the dominant species doesn't mean it dominates the world. No, in fact, the planet isn't dominatable.
Humans became the dominant species by using the resources around them and making them into various tools and equipments for survival and relaxation. Humans didn't dominate this earth.
If humans become extinct, them the only species left will be those that we deemed as unintelligent. Yet, they are the one who are still here, so they shall be the ones that will be the candidates for the dominant species title left by us.
Then again, there might be other species that will evolve to be as complex as us. And might even be from our own genus, or even from other phylums or kingdoms. Most humans tend to valuate intelligence with the ability to talk, make and so on, and we label those that can't as unintelligent or somewhere along that line. Humans can understand humans. and it's undeniable that animals can understand animals, expecially if they come from one genus or from one family. So does that mean they deem us as unintelligent? Who knows. But just because a species can't make use of their brains to produce something doesn't mean they aren't able to become a dominant species.
Imagine what will happen if some sort of animal evolve and continuously kill humans and we are not able to defeat them back. And what will happen if humans are left around a hundred-some? We will become the minority, and endangered species, and some other species will fill up the title of the dominant species on earth.
Who knows, the world plays games on those living in its path.
Enough, I have no intention of having a debate with you. But the thing is, just because a species can't use their brain to produce something like humans do, it doesn't mean they aren't able to become the dominant species on earth.

Fine, you got your point...Still,I would like to believe amongst earth species humans are of the highest order, that is until humans itself extinct, then they might be another species that takes our place as dominant.

Anyways, I don't think it's specifically real apes holding the future. All ape species are endangered already, so there simply are too less of them to get busy evolving again. However, I do believe in the possibility of a virus taking out the entire human race, without damaging the animals. This would mean the world would be ruled by wild animals. And that went pretty good for a long time, a couple of million years ago.
And well, frankly, if the human race is no more, I don't give a damn about what will happen to earth anymore.

I did not deny that didn't I?? It's true, we are at the top of the earthly species. Our ability to make our surroundings as much as possible suitable for us has made us the top tier species in the whole planet. We are indeed the domiment species on earth. No denying that. But yeah, if humans become extinct, then another one will take our title.
Hopefully that time will be far away in the future. Far enough that I and my descendants have died out first.
I think we both agree on this.
