Good thing nobody cares if it is licensed, most of the subbers (the ones with balls of steel) will continue subbing it.

It does bother me when subbers are scared off by a license, though it makes sense... I always buy the series if it's good... If it's not good, then I shouldn't be watching it so it doesn't matter if someone is subbing it...

I've stopped watching this even though I love it - too much trouble to obtain fansubs. Now anxiously awaiting DVD release...
I know what you mean about buying the DVDs if their good. This serious is almost over and if the fansubs stop and I have to wait for the US release I think that I'll go crazy!

I adored Darker that Black, but I really don't want to see how they're going to ruin it when they dub it...

When an anime is licensed,it basically means that a distributor buys the copyright.For that to be economically viable,and due to the international copyright laws,fansubs which provide a free distribution are obviously stopped-if not,then releasing a DVD would of course be stupid as the eventual buyers would simply download it...An as for claymore being one of the best anime this year-read the manga and realise how lame it really is-the character development is awful and the plot is totally denatured...

Copyright laws have some loopholes, but tend to be completely against translation and distribution without consent. Viewers shouldn't download material illegally, they're putting companies like Geneon that have done at least some good work out of business. There are people that are not reached by fansubbed anime, and they deserve to watch good shows as much as the rest of us (I know someone in college who still doesn't get fansubs!).
As for Darker than Black, it was such a good series that I wouldn't dare not own it when it's released stateside.

No dvds of Darker than Black will be out until probably beginning or mid 2008 which makes me sad. Because those would be the individual dvds and not a box set. i was really into it but now that its licensed...

i think, you can easily download the raw file and the subtitles somewhere else. eg on the 'evil empire' or at 'mangas arigatou'.
i LOVED, LOVED, LOVED darker than black (even if i don't understand the story *3*° it's not explained until the very end...)
the japanese original is the best. i mean - english dubbed versions are still good. but you should listen to the german ones T____T they destroy EVERYTHING!
