This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

I was wondering if anyone goes to Anime cons?

I mean, I'm sure a portion of y'all do but question is, which ones and do you go every year/

For the last 6 years I've been going and volunteering for Animethon in Edmonton, Canada. if I ever get the chancem sometimes I go to Otafest down in Calgary.

I've met people who like to go to Sakura-con in Seattle and Anime Expo in... Toronto? (maybe Anahiem, can't remember). I have yet to meet someone who has been to the biggest Anime con outside of Japan, which just happens to be in San Paulo(sp?), Brazil.

Posts on this topic are all over the freakin' place.

Btw, Anime Expo is in Anaheim for a little while longer. Then it might- or probably will- move. I think they were saying it'd go to Long Beach. AX is the best convention ever. Nothing else compares.

Yep, but they are moving it again because every year it grows. It was over 30k last year and the anaheim convention center & the nearby hotels are thinking they won't be able to hold that many people. Plus, there are other closer attractions in Long Beach. This is what I heard at last years' AX.

I would if I could afford it... but to tell the truth I'd rather just design the costumes for my friends....

I noticed, sorry. I was re-reading the "Animepaper forum" title and I didn't realize THAT was the anime forum. I thought it was a forum about Animepaper the bwesite/content on this website... which was odd, I didn't think anyone was that narissitic.

Well the Con in Calgary is called Otafest, it was held at UofC but I can't remember where the new location is. I don't remember the website but I'm sure it's something simple like otafest.org... Its already finished but there's always next year. Nishikaze is in Lethbridge and thats sometime in march I believe.
There is also the very brand-spanking new con called Calgary Expo & Comic-con, more marvel/dc based but tonnes of artists from everywhere and voice actors. I went for the first year, huge turn out, it's held at the Big Four building in Calgary (duh!).

AX might move? Wow! I wasn't sure if it was going to or not but I guess it's growing too big now.

I went to OTAKUTHON a few ago here in MOntreal quebec. It was great! Artists gallery, dealers area and a whole lot of anime showings! Also I got an Autograph from MATT HILL! voice actor of 'Kira Yamato' (Gundam Seed) and 'Kero' (Cardcaptor SAkura) he funny as hell! next year on June 10th I think we are having another one! its great!

I can't go to those big conventions all of you are mentioning since I live in another country. ^^; But there are small Anime Cons here, to which I love going to.

The only anime con I've gone to is A-Kon here in Dallas... Its like the... 3rd biggest anime con in the US I think, but it doesnt compare to AX in size or uber awsome guests... I had fun and met some cool people and got lots of neat stuff... but you think for a con that size there would be more to keep you busy....

I probably wont make another con till A-Kon next year (lest I get lucky and have money for Ikkicon) because of car expenses, but I plan on going to quite a few cons next year :)

Anime cons are a must for an anime fan, you meet awsome people and get to do things with people of like interests, you really dont have to worry about being put down (unless you encounter some gripey staff) by others because they all like the same things

I would love to go to an anime convention but I live in Poland and there aren't any cons here. People in poland don't see ant difference between fairy tales for small children and anime and that's what pisses me off. Many people laugh at me when I say that I'm an otaku (i don't use this word because they wouldn't understand) because they think that I'm whatching cartoon network, fox kids and things like that.

I've been to sevral anime conventions, as well as comic book conventions. I am looking forward to CN Anime in September, which will be crazy because it's held at the same time as a bunch of other conventions.

Yes, but I've only been to one anime convention, which is NDK in Denver, Colorado. But I'm sure that I can go there again this year. But too bad it's only during the school year...
