Star Ocean till the end of Time
What do you think about it?
I played the directors cut edition. And it starts of great. Everything just was cool. Nice story,Good characters etc.
But the game just seems to lose it's charm at the end. The plot just horribly sucked.. and it is really anoying that's it only possible to get 8/10 characters. On the other hand, this game has a lot of extra's that make it interesting and the movie clips really remind alot of final fantasy.

I loved the game. The story was excellent, something expected from Square Enix. The battle system was polished to provided better intuitive controls and better AI tactics. The music from the game really conveyed the mood the story. The only downside I had was that it wasn't long enough. I managed to beat the game under 30 hours which I thought was a tad short. The extra things you can do didn't really appeal to me. It wasn't like FF8/9 where the side card game was almost as involving as the game itself.
Well you either hate the story or you don't. I found it alrite, the battle system was definitely the best action-based i've encountered in rpg history.
The extra things are what makes the game challenging, all tri-ace games do this. Create a huge bonus dungeon with all the strongest items and with very difficult bosses in them. Also there are no save points within the dungeon too... it's great especially if you've played previous tri-ace selections such as valkyrie profile, where you'll note that some characters make their appearance. It's a shame you didn't find them appealing, I believe most people play the game for that.
Speaking of cardgames... I thought ff9 cardgame was pretty boring, although i loved the chocobo sidequest.
In the case of Radiata stories (released a month ago in north america), they even let you use one of the characters! Anyways Star Ocean has always appealed to me due to the sub sci-fi theme it offers.

WHAT?! you didn't do the sidequests and just rushed the story? you really should be getting the most out of it. I was able to make my game last 60+ hours. but yeah, I agree with you that a lot of these side quests are unnecessary to beat the game. but if you want to make a game last, then do them. If you finish a game too fast, you'll end up doing nothing again, waiting for the next cool game to pop up.
Hm... I spent 130 hours + just trying to get all the bonuses. I still haven't gotten them all. T_T
But...I still think that Star Ocean 2 was better then 3. XD

Looking at the scan of Star Ocean til the end of time, I was pretty shocked that the diplo was that big... looks like a huge mothership

Compared to the 2nd game, this wasn't nearly as good, but it is still a good game. It had a lot of interesting characters, I especially liked background stories of Fayt and Maria. The story was pretty interesting, especially towards the middle of the game, when you think that "The Creator" has come to end all life. I thought the idea was pretty cool, I mean, a game where you can go kill "The Creator"? But the story took a turn for the worst, and ended with a big disappointment. The battle system was pretty awesome as well, but I didn't like the whole idea of you dying if you lose all MP, it just seems pretty cheap to me.
Overall, still a good game, so I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

But at the same time you could kill enemies with MP too, and quite easily at that with some of the battle skills.
Anyways it made the bonus dungeons more challenging...
The ending was pretty bad yes... tri-ace has a problem with endings for their game >_> Must've passed their deadlines or something

What you said is exactly the way I see the game. I would have rated it the same way too. Are you reading my mind or something.
And on a side note I loved the music cause it was composed by Motoi Sakuraba. He did Valkyrie Profile and Golden Sun too. What I want to know is why he didn't do Radiata Stories which is also a Tri-Ace game.

I think this game is alright. The only character that grabbed me was Peppita (gotta love the dancers) while the rest bored me , and I was really dissapointed when Fayt crash-landed on a third-world country. I really would have liked it better if it was all futuristic a la Xenosaga. The battle-system, the background music and the extra stuff were the only things that kept me from not disliking the game. The story just didn't really cut it for me.
OK. it goes like this...
see I got the game for my birthday because my uncle gave it to me. knowing I wanted it for the longest!
It was pricey but now it's like $20. So I went on playing it when my mom barged in and took the game right out of my system! I was like "What's the deal!"
Then she went on about this lecture of why this is a "Bad Game for young minds!"
That was a load of bologna. She went on about symbolic stuff in it.
I said I don't get in to deep with a game!
I just play the darn thing!
And yet they still kept talking on how it's influencing my head or somethin'
So overall...
I didn't get to finish it!
That sucked like a vacuum cleaner! Still regrets.

I loved this game, and still do. What really got me was the free movement during battles, it really brought a new level of strategy into the game. Item creation was really great, it was frustrating, but the second you finally get what you want is pure bliss. The story has a few big surprises, and the pacing was alright.
This game offered a lot of freedom, especially after you beat the game. That's also when you get the best boss fights, since the bosses throughout the game are all pushovers. Most people won't get challenged until the extra bosses after beating the game.
I also liked the characters, with the exception of Fayt. The guy was such a cry baby...

Picked it up a while back, but I've yet to start playing it. I once saw a japanese video showing someone doing a 4000+ hit combo on 2 enemies, I'm looking forward to getting into it! And on a related sidenote: this game has got the biggest/longest game guide I've ever seen!

bye bro!
