This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

Weve all played quite a few games over the years and i was just wondering what games define the genre that they are attributed to? The games can be on any platform and from years back. Heres a few categories. If you wanted you could state why youve picked the games you have. You can add more categories if you want..:-)

Best:

RPG
Action Adventure (You can split this is two if you want)
Sports
Stratergy
Horror
Platform
Beat em Up

RPG: Final Fantasy VII (not my fav. one, but it did revolutionize the way RPGs are made today)
Action/Adventure: The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time (*first* 10/10 on gamespot.com)
Sports: Mike Tyson's Punch Out! (NES) (the way all boxing games should be)
Strategy: Warcraft i (such a classic game - great online gaming)
Horror: Resident Evil IV (was a instant hit when it was released)
Platform: ps2 (only because there are many more good games here than the other two platforms in its generation)
Beat em up: Super Smash Bros. Melee (best non-online multiplayer game - period. Always a blast a parties)

Platformer - Mario Bros.
What else could you come up with for Platformer :P ? This was the best game of it's times, and it pretty much saved the gaming industry when it was going downhill. And it is still a favourite among many gamers, including myself. Many old-school gamers could probably recall fond memories tied to this game.

For Sports games..well Football games you cant beat Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer. Fifa may have all the licenses and the easier curve of winning but PES makes every tackle, every shimmy past an opponent- never mind goal, even more satisfying.

Shoot em Up: Gunstar Heroes
RPG: The Final Fantasy Series (I wont get into specifics, as they all had their good points)
Fighter: Too many to name. Street Fighter comes to mind first though

I've basically only played Playstation games so I can really only comment on them.

RPG: Most likely it'd be Final Fantasy VII. That game seemed to cause ripples in the RPG world when it was first released so I wouldn't be suprised if it was the revolutionary RPG.

Horror: Silent Hill & Resident Evil, without a doubt. The psychological plots and mind trips encorporated in Silent Hill is reason enough, those games and their plots were planned out exceedingly well. Instant classics for me. As for Resident Evil, well, goes without saying that it probably had the same effect with the survival horror genre as FFVII did for RPGs.

Beat 'em Up: I wouldn't be suprised if Street Fighter played a huge part in the revolution of fighting games. After Street Fighter, I'd say maybe Tekken as well.. it seemed to be a favourite in the arcades. I think, anyway.

RPG- too many to say. But I'd go for Valkyrie Profile
Action Adventure (You can split this is two if you want)- Devil May Cry 3. Nuff said.
Sports- Fight Night 2
Stratergy- Disgaea, Fire Emblem
Horror- Resident Evil 4
Platform- n/a
Beat em Up- Street Fighter 3 Third Strike (Now make a sequel dammit).

RPG: FF8
Action/Adv: Devil May Cry
Sports: KO kings 2000, NBA 2k6
Strategy: Vandal Hearts
Horror: RE series, silent hill
Fighting: Mortal Kombat series, marvel vs capcom 2

I miss 2d games I wish game developers would remake old series like castlevania to 2d versions with better grafix.
