Do you cheat at Video Games?
Hey everyone! Just a little question for all of you here on the VideoGame Pad. How often do you cheat at video games? I do not consider the use of strategy guides, or even statesaving as cheating, but anything else counts. How often or how little do you do it? The choice is yours, but please be honest.
For your own information, I have a tendency to use strategy guides and save states, but I consider cheating as a way to take all of the fun out of a game. What do all of you think?

Well I personaly hate cheaters it dosent matter to me if its a Singleplayer game or a multyplayer game cheat is cheat and i realy hate it!! When you cheat its like you betraying yourself ... well thats my opinion...
Hmm, depends on whether people class walkthrough guides etc as cheating. I mean for example playing a game like GTA and finding all the packages- it would take you AGES to find em all and get 100% clearing on any game, let alone GTA. Walkthrough guides serve to help the gamer whose stuck on a problem. Inputting codes or using cheat discs etc THAT i consider cheating.
So no i havent cheated..:-)

In my opinion, I think cheating takes away the fun and challenge of the game you're cheating in. I don't use save states or cheats, and on my first playthrough, unless I am really stuck in one part of the game, I don't use Strategy Guides either.
The general rule of thumb for me is that I always have to run through the game at least once without cheats, and after that I splurge on crazy codes. That way, it doesn't take away the fun, because you've already experienced what the game had to offer ^_^
Is up up down down left right left right start for 30life in contra a cheat? if yes, then yes i cheat
but if you mean cheat by using action replay or infinity live... then never, people who use this to end a game are cowards (use this only when you want to know something)

Konami Code? Can't remember if that is the same code.

If you mean cheat as in use codes, I do that after I've finished the game twice or three times. In some ways, Strategy guides are also cheap ways of finishing and spoiling the fun. I wouldn't use one until I tried to find all that I could find in a game. I don't think I've ever done save states though. Most of the games I play have some kind of storyline and it would be screwy if I just jump in midway through the whole game.
Yes that is the Konami code. There are some variations of it, depending on the game or system.
Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, select, start!
and usually some sound comes on if you pull it off successfully.

WOW. I thought this topic wouldn't be going anywhere... I guess I was wrong.
Well.. rose online and runescape, but runescape i wont share about, rose online on the other hand
in rose online............
i used a skin hack to make it so that monsters stood out very easily
the skin hack also allowed for my bot to work along with the bot there was
a auto-health script so i would not need to hit buttons to gain back health
then there was also a auto-mana script along with a auto-arrow refiller script
and then i also used a zoom hack so i could zoom way out and see a lot better
i also duped stacks and stacks of 999 of lots of fun stuff like refinment materials, unique weapons
high stat armor, +10 skill point jams that GM's gave out during a event, i also had stacks and stacks and stacks of mana jams and blood charms that i used to get my mage from level 1 to 70 in four days with. Then i also had a fun PK hack that allowed me to PK people outside of PK zones, i also had a launcher that made it so i could run multiple clients at once, very usefull for selling stuff...... but thats the extent of my multiplayer cheating as for single player, i dont think ive ever bothered with cheat codes or hacks for them.

Err... well.. I rarely read faqs except when I'm stuck... or if it isn't the kind of games that reading gaqs will change a lot of things (Nintendogs, by example... unlike RPG). So I don't think I really cheat (and I don't really think that this ageless code on sims 2 is really cheating since ageless came from the first game)... except that I tend to save a lot.
I only use cheats whenever i finish a game but no i never use cheats nor a strategy guide.
