which is the best developer
Im sorry but as some will know for me Sega is the best, it makes the most original and fun games and unlike EA doesn't fill its catalogue with shity sequels. have your say
I don't really think that any one developer is the best, no company can stay consistently excellent, they all have their bad and their good. I'd probably say my favourite is Nintendo and their second parties, though, they're the biggest innovators in the gaming world today, plus the fact that Super Smash Bros. Melee is so damn huge that I still haven't finished it 100% and still enjoy trying to unlock everything.
As for the worst, I'd probably have to go with you on EA, they churn out sequel after sequel and their monopoly on the sports market just can't be a good thing. On top of that they license every big thing they can get their hands on, making a dodgy game in a small dev time and heaping it onto unsuspecting kids and/or casual gamers who simply throw their hard-earned money away at the hype and big names they know.
EDIT: That's not to say EA are totally bad, I do like some of their games, mostly Need for Speed Underground.

You know, it's not that I really hate Sega and Nintendo -- I mean, I did grow up on their systems -- it's just, for the past few years, I've been completely put off by their games for one reason or another. Super Mario Sunshine and The Wind Waker for Nintendo, while nowhere near bad games, just didn't seem to get me hooked as much as, say, Super Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time. They also seemed to be incredibly short. Maybe it's just my memory playing tricks on me, since it has been a number of years since I've played through SM64 and OOT, but it seems like Sunshine and Waker were quite short, and not hard in the least. Plus, with Nintendo adding things like segmented controllers and dual/touch screens these days, I dunno... I'm just not feeling the love any more.
Sega, on the other hand, has gone completely downhill in the past years. Now, I'm not going to claim to be an avid Sega fan who collects all their games, nor do I play any sports games, but I do like the Genesis Sonic games, and I have seen the lack of quality in that series over the years. Now, the original Sonic Adventure game was pretty good if you ask me, but after that, I can't honestly say I've enjoyed playing a console Sonic game. Adventure 2 was just pretty bland and boring -- sure, you've got Shadow, but he's just another Sonic, with a more "wannabe badass" attitude. Can't say I really cared for the addition of a more "detailed" story, either. With Sonic Heroes, I liked the idea of using three members in a team -- kinda reminded me of how Tails would follow Sonic around in Sonic 2 -- but it just didn't seem to work out quite as nicely as planned. Add to the fact that two of the teams seemed entirely pointless, and Metal Sonic really only shows up for twenty minutes if you're lucky, and I just didn't care for it. Then, of course, we've got Shadow the Hedgehog. The game has been picked on by countless gaming magazines and sites, so I don't need to say much on it. I just never understood the need to add guns -- probably the reason I personally never picked it up. Trailers, demos, etc., just didn't appeal to me at all... but oh well.

EA has a few good titles. Fight Night being one of them.
I like Square Enix :P They're a good developer. Though they may only have 1 or 2 strong titles (Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest)
Square/squaresoft/squareenix all teh same company all the same quality
hey dont knock sega, yea wat you say is true but sega was fun when i was

Zer0SamuraiXsquare/squaresoft/squareenix all teh same company all the same quality
Mm... you know, that's another company I love to death. But to say "same company, same quality" is a bit misleading. Enix and Square have always taken a slightly different approach to their games -- hence why a Dragon Quest game is likely to hand you your rear end if you try to run through it, and a Final Fantasy is essentially beaten from the moment you pop it into your console. Well, perhaps not so much with the early Final Fantasy games... I have some nasty memories of bosses from IV and VI. But, generally speaking, that rule would apply. A lot of Square Enix games these days seem to be "hit or miss," as well. More so things like the SaGa games (yes, there are actually people who play Romancing/Unlimited SaGa), or the fairly recent Radiata Stories. And to say that Square Enix is only good for Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest is misleading, as well -- what about Valkyrie Profile, Xenogears and the Star Ocean games? I, for one, have found that Square Enix actually excels at non-FF/DQ games, as I've probably enjoyed Star Ocean and Xenogears more than the vast majority of FF and DQ games that I've got a chance to play. Assuming they put some actual work into it making it accessible, that is. There's really no excuse making something like Unlimited SaGa, where learning what to do is probably more difficult than actually completing the game.
Zer0SamuraiXhey dont knock sega
I'm knocking Sonic Team more than Sega itself. Like I said in my original post, I don't play sports games, and I don't think I can name another non-Sonic, Sega game off the top of my head. It's not that the games are entirely bad or unplayable, it's just they lack, and for lack of a better word, "soul." The basic concepts are there in the newer games, they're just not polished, and quite possibly not heading in a positive direction -- for example, relying more on fake "cool" attitudes to appeal to younger kids, rather than actually making a "cool" story or game. ... I have absolutely nothing against the early Sonic Team/Sega games.

Definetly Square and Blizzard... Add Atari also... Their games rock!
I consider Konami the best simply because they do the Metal Gear Solid series. They put a lot of work into! Capcom is probably a close second or third.
Blizzard, Squaresoft and valve. Don't really like EA, but they do listen to the comunity
Capcom and squaresoft all the way! , they created so many great games...
I'm a big fan of id software, i don't think they've really had a bad game

Developers/Companies I cant stand:
EA Games - They toally screwed up everything UO was, and they seem to release their games in a hurry to generate more revenue. Still, they messed up Ultima Online, and I will never forgive them for that.
Bungie - They made Myth, which was a good game. But, this whole Halo fad is getting quite annoying. The games aren't that great, but for some reason, its got a huge fanbase of people goggling over the Cheif.
Square-Enix - Lets face it, the company sucks now. They've given up quality games just so they can focus on the graphics of the games. They constantly have plotholes in the games, and the work has been declining since ff7. FF7 was the peak of their existance (or... Squaresoft's existance).
Publishers/Developers that are good by my standards:
Nippon Ichi - They made good strategical RPGS, which is one of the genres I'm into. With a game like Disgaea, you can't lose.
Atlus - They seem to have good titles under them, such as Disgaea, Tactics Ogre, etc. Atlus hardly lets me down.
