I had learned Japanese for two years in my college.
But still not good at it.^^|||

Speak no, it is something too high for me, I have tried to learn some words and some sentences, the basic for understand some things.
I'm about to learn japanese as well, 'cause in the university that I'm studying at I need a third languaje in order to get my degree and I liked japanese, I found a good school but seems that it's a kind of expansive but it would be cool to watch anime without subtitles or watch the NHK channel without saying "WTF is he/she saying?" LOL.

I've been studying it for 4 years in high school. Well one term for the first year... and I'm only in the 3rd term this year. So technically 3 years...
But I also did a year or 2 with a private teacher, together with my brother.
I intend to study it in university next year as well.
Oh and I have Japanese friends as well as I learn some from them as well, the more casual Japanese anyway.
I must live in Japan at some point... Must see bishies in concert...
I'm really enjoying Japanese, partly because I understand how it works and I'm pretty good at it. According to my teacher we can all speak enough Japanese to survive in Japan, but I have doubts... Lol there's so many more words and structures that I still don't know. I want to study it until I can at least speak it fluently and be able to understand japanese shows, animes and mangas without needing subtitles.
I can understand what the characters are saying in j-doramas and on tv most of the time now, but in animes I can't understand as much. And as for manga, it's just so hard >.<

I tried once but didn't get very far due to the fact I was trying to learn during exam times and couldn't devote enough time to it.
I'm very much considering taking it up again though now that I am at Uni.

All i got to say is your people who get japanese offered at your highschools are the luckiest people...
Ive had to wait 6 years and save up a helluva alot of money just to take a japanese course... you should take full advantage of the fact that its there for free everyday.
*shakes head*
So.. damn lucky

Awh...so lucky some of you are...we don't have japanese class here. T.T no fair...we learn only english, french or german...I wanna learn japanese, but I don't know anyone that can teach me,so I've decided to learn it on my own, but I haven't got enough time right now becuase of school...maybe next summer...right now I know a couple of words and phrases from anime. ^.^
If I tried... tons of people would laugh at me. Basically because I can't exactly say a full sentence in Japanese or in the proper accent. The same with Spanish and Vietnamese.
I only pick off it at home with my brother when we're roleplaying our characters. We like to pick random Japanese words and insert them sometimes. ...yeah watching anime can do that to you. Just... make sure you don't do it in real life... like "Ohayo! Orewa Dave-san! I like anime! Hontoni sugoi~! Nani about omae?" Pfft... LMAO.

I can oly speak some words like "ohayou" or "ikedematsu" but I don't want to try because it's hopeless.
I'm too stupid ^_°.

Well i have been studying japanese for 3 years now going on 4. i am getting much further since i got into college classes (last year). i love the language and find it more interesting and more fun to speak than english. plus i am no good at english (as you can tell i probably misspelled something here) but japanese is a lot better for me. i can watch shows now and understand 95% of what is being said (it is the truth for all those skeptics.) plus it is my major in college so i have all the time for the language.
I am currently taking a japanese class at my school. I am only on my first year though. ^^' And it's pretty easy.

I took Spanish for a year in college and didn't like it & a language is required... Decided to take a risk and go with Japanese since I wanted to learn it anyway. It's fun~~ We have a good class. Unfortunately, I'm slow and I have a problem with freezing up when my sensei calls on me to answer a question. We're learning katakana right now.. :D I was so proud of myself for being able to read the sign that says raamen in Naruto. XP

bye bro!
