I learn from hearing j-music and looking at the translated lyrics.
It's very interesting and not very difficult.

Yes, in fact i am trying to learn how to speak Japanese, i use pimslur's japanese courses and i have Japanese 1 - 4 on my computer now...each lesson is about 30 mins long but, it really help you hearing it, but only bad thing i don't have the book that is supposed to accompany it so i can hear and understand but i can' t write it well =P...
I am constantly trying to pick up terms and phrases every time i watch an anime or see something on a web site.
I also bought a book to try and learn, and it doesn't seem to difficult. Although with the constant stress of school right now, it's very rare i get to read the book.

Where did you go to school at?!

They teach Japanese as secondary language @ every public school in Australia, ya know? Kinda random, but it's good for me!

At least your taking a class, i'm trying to learn by myself with like learning books and with out help from a teacher or someone who speaks japanese it's hard. Although if its a class i guess there is also more pressure for you to pass. But your lucky i really want to learn it. still working on it but its not really advancing.
I tried even i got some kind of textbooks thanks to a friend far from me but of course that and my will for it all isn't enough that's why i couldn't really get too far in the study - there is no teacher around for that language.
I picked up quite a lot of words and phrases from the anime I watched too, and had 'impromptu' lessons from my friend before, but my command is as terrible as a 2 year old.. lol..
This doesn't beat my explanation of why I wanted to learn it tho.. hahaha
During my first trip to Japan, I got lost and was desperately looking for a way back, and most of the people there were quite 'lost' when I tried to communicate with them..
After I'm done with college, I would want to take up some real lessons..

Ive been watching anime with subtitles forever..and I find jap an easier language to speak rather then my native speaking language lol
We didnt have classes in my school, but I have bought a couple of books on learing to Speak Japenese. The only hard thing is getting the sentence structure it's different than english. It's a little like Spanish to me, and some words are pronouce the same way. Well in my opinion.
