This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

Are you an otaku? If you dunno what an otaku is, it simply means a person who is absolutely mad at anime and manga and like collecting figures, fanthings, limited edition anime /manga stuff etc. ...are you one??

for me, I don't collect figures or have that much Animes (but loads og manga though) at home but I'm absolutely an otaku ^^

Though I've seen only 200-250 anime titles and I've only read 10 mangas, I am absolutely mad about these. Anime changed my life - I met a lot of fans and made a lot of friendships. Nowadays I say "tadaima" when coming home and use "baka" more than 50 times a day.

In a sense,... and according to the western definition, yes I am one. We foreign japanimation Fans tend to think that Otaku means only "hardcore Japanimation Fan", but in Japanese Language terms, guess what, it is not. Otaku in real japanese means "A person out of his mind, daydreaming, forgetting about reality" Otaku for common Japanese people is described in a negative sense instead of "Japanimation-fan" only. I read that in many Articles in German Japanimation-magazines.

So I would watch it, if you ever go to Japan or meet Japanese people and telling them that you are an "Otaku", just because you're a Manga-fan... serious...

I sure am! lol :]

I speak Japanese almost all the time, even at school, some of my friends are starting to learn lol..
I call my mom "Okasa", and always telling "Haiyaku" or "Urusai"(for the fun, don't get me wrong.. lol..).
Of course I got manga, and bought some wallpaper, posters, and figures...

I think you need to ask "How can a person can NOT be an Otaku?" :P

I'm pretty sure that I am an otaku. I definately like to watch anime, and sometimes get drawn into the world if it is a good anime, but I'm not as hardcore as to see what's new coming out or making sure that I know everything about the anime that I watch. I just like watching it, and if I wasn't so lazy, I would probably cosplay at conventions.

Yup I'm an otaku. I collect manga and anime dvds. I watch more anime than regular television shows and I read more manga than I read novels (though it's probably because manga is a much more easier read). So I do consider myself an otaku.

I'm not an otaku. Otakus are too devoted to anime. They buy DVDs, toys and all that kind of stuff.
I have a very anime-ish lifestyle, though.

Otakus do not love anime as much as I do.

No, wait.

Otakus do not love anime the way I do.

Well i suppose that i am one. i became obsessed with anime well after i was obsessed with japan (like 17 years). my biggest pet peeve is people saying that they are an otaku when the only thing that they watch is adult swim. serious people. i understand if that is all they can get but then you cant call urself one. and the other pet peeve that i get is people wanting to learn japanese to understand anime better and think they can become fluent in 1 high school year. GOD people high school cant teach THAT much japanese in a year. i speak japanese only in most of my life now. (considering that it is my major) basically here is were i speak english....... either way GO OTAKU'S...

I am a wannabe-otaku... infact I wish I was even a wannabe-okatu -_-;; I never have the time to watch anime and read manga all the time although that would just be heavenly but I get what I can seeing as I live in a kind of remote country who don't really give much of a damn about anime... it's annoying, the only way to get manga (that I know of) other than buying through the internet would be to buy it at the only con that our country EVER hosts a year. (does that make sense?) But still, I love anime as much as I possibly can!
