btw. I think the strongest aspect of this anime are the characters, they are pretty well balanced, though i liked all of the four (kyou, kotomi, tomoyo and fuko) more than nagisa...
I am not sure how good will the second season be, hope it won't attempt a so serious plot as the movie did... btw about the movie - just 1 question - WHAT THE HELL??

The movie was done by Toei animation whereas the TV series was done by Kyoto animation. thats why their different.
Both the TV series and the movie really touched me. Visual Arts/Key is starting to master their formula for a great drama. It's that balance of humor and heart-tugging moments that really get to me.
But one of the things I'm constantly forgetting is how childish Nagisa acts. For being several years older than Tomoya, she has a funny charm that keeps her young and energetic. That's really what I like about her character. Those funny little realistic quirks that you find in unique people.
I dunno. Almost none of my friends like the kind of anime that I like. Sometimes it's very refreshing to discuss anime like this without the fear that my buddies are going to just ignore me or tell me that all I watch is boring garbage.
Does anyone else have problems like that when they tell their friends that Air/Kanon/Clannad are really good shows?

I found the ending of the movie much more dramatic. I wasn't really pleased with the way they ended the series as it really didn't strike any emotion with me.
@ Marlin000 : lots of my friends don't watch a lot of the animes I watch either. I will pretty much watch anything but they stick to one genre for some reason and never cross over unless they first episode catches them.

I only have one friend who is really into anime and i dont get to see him that often, ive told a few of my friends how good they are but none of them watch anime and they dont want too which is there loss. a really big loss when it comes to air, kanon 2006 and clannad.

I loved Clannad with Fuuko-chan! Ichonsese! And Nagisa! 
And I liked the ending (Episode 22 is the ending, 23 was an special) and now I can't wait for the ~After Story~ to release!

why would you want a cliffhanger? thats just silly. sure cliffhangers make you want to watch the next season but there also very very annoying.

Am I missing something. i really didnt understand that of "after story" but as for the thing I watched, I liked it a lot!. End at 22 episode is great, and the "extra chapter" is very good, but doesn't offer anything new. What makes me think so hard is what the AFTER STORY is, is it a second season? an OAV or a special or what?!. and the movie, when am I supposed to watch it?. thanks for your help.
Clannad's ending was great, only to get kicked in the family jewells by the movie, which didnt even go along with the series. If they do make a second serious i hope they don't follow the movie's storyline.
Is it strange that I was laughing/crying all through the scene where Akio was yelling at Nagisa? XD (So fierce!) I just love him!
Emo!Nagisa is no fun, but the ending was overall pretty adorable (No kiss though! >.<)
The party/date sequence was awesome, imo. And Tomoya is so much cuter when he's blushing♥
I was hoping it would be a bit more emotional though...I cried a million times more at the end of the Fuuko arc, which reminds me - she never showed! She'll prolly pop up in in the next season instead XD

DecadentChild to answer your question the after story is a second season that is going to be made, it probably wont air till some time next year. also their is an OVA being made thats coming out in either june or july. one of them.
Yeah, the DVD will have the OVA or 24th episode in it, so we will probably be able to get to watch it. However, no specific release date has been announced for After Story, right. So I don't know when that is going to come out.

My opinion on the anime;
Storyline separated into parts is way too obvious. Main couple predetermined, and nothing can change it. Why would a care-free guy suddenly change that fast? Why does Nagisa cry + free hug everyone in the begging? Seemed like false or fake tears.
Dragging, very very long drag to the main plot, and then it ends in 2 episodes. One of the worst things that could have been done.
When it was over, I had a; wtf......this was it, and watching, and waiting for the new episodes didn't seem worth it all of a sudden.
Even the movie plot was better.
Personally I'll rate this a 7 or less from a 10 point. Because it's like a bad story dragging movie, that ends fast, with many questions.
The fact season 2 is coming isn't exiting, I've been let down by season 1, and something tells me it won't be worth the wait.
On the other hand the colors, graphics, and art in this anime was wonderful.
Even though I sound kind of an anti Clannad fan now, I still watched it through, despite the many dislikes.
Hope the next work will be better.
