I got the game a day after it came out, I total love it. The graphics are intense and the game play is none like I have ever seen. I wish there was more game play than cinematic but it uses them great, and reminds me much of Xenosaga.
I didn't have any problems playing though my first time. However, my second play through I kept getting the disk with a question mark in the corner of my TV and then the game would freeze up. This happened a lot during cut scenes but also during game play, now it seems to happen about every ten minutes. Has anyone else had this problem as well, all my other games work fine.

I've got the disc with the ? symbol come up when a codec call first starts, that's about it. I'm guessing there's something with the game, I didn't get it first time around either.

That didn't happen to me, I'm wondering if it had something to do with Sony releasing version 2.36. Because after I had updated all these problems started happening. I just tried uninstalling the game data today and reinstalling it, I haven't tried playing yet but hopefully that will solve the problem. It just pisses me off when it happens and I haven't had the option to save yet, and its bad for my system as well.

Hmm... while I haven't really played the game I've been hearing really good things about this game from everyone. Although I've just gotten a PS3 so this may just be the game to break it in with.

I played MGS4 on day one passed it right through in 16 hours with all cinematic videos. Well the game was extremely good, especially if you played the other MGS series. The game tells the background from the previous series and it tells you whats been going on in the modern times within the game and in its past. The MGS4 has the controls have been modified or in other words different from the previous series. It seems easier to shoot the weapons and its not that complex but it takes time to get used too. Well I am almost done with my 3rd though of the game. As for the game it is really good, and its one of the best PS3 out there right now because it uses the full potential of the PS3 especially the hardware it has. You will know by the time you play it because the videos look amazing. I think that Hideo Kojima put everything he had into this game it proves a lot on how much it took to make this game. Even though it took him 4 years to make it and its well worth the wait because it steps the bounderies of the PS3. compared to the other games that are exclusive to the PS3. I give this game 10/10 it is worth buying this game because it also have the Metal Gear Online. If you played the previous series this game should fill in the gaps from the previous series. well here is what I thought of this game.

It warrants at most a rental for me, but that will have to wait until college when I have access to a PS 3. From what I've heard on ZP, it's not exciting, and so I'd consider it to have one strike, and since 2 sucked and 3 disappointed me, I think that if I don't like 4 I'm going to lay a stake into the heart of the series then.
Zero Punctation isn't the gospel though and he's said before he's a PC FPS lover so there's one reason why he didn't like it anyway. Another reason is he's not a fan of the series and a non-fan jumping in at the fourth game and saying it sucks because he has no understanding of the past 3 games is like someone jumping in at the end of Star Wars going "Wtf laser swords? Lol crap".
Moving on from that, Metal Gear Solid 2 didn't suck. If it did suck then it wouldn't have sold so well, be praised so well, be highly regarded in the world of gaming and be commonly put in multiple lists of best games ever. There are few people who think it sucked and if you're one of them then well, that would be your personal opinion, not a general fact. Same with Metal Gear Solid 3 but as you said it disappointed *you* so I'll let that slide because I've already addressed this issue in another topic so I'm not going to re-iterate it here again.
Seeing as you seem to think that ZP tells nothing but the god-honest truth then no, you probably wouldn't like MGS4 so I wouldn't even suggest you renting it because the world doesn't really need another Xbot hater. You may think what you like about the game or the series but the fact is it's shifted 3 million copies, boosted PS3 sales worldwide dramatically and is already being hailed as Game of the Year in some quarters and best game ever in the minds of most who's played it then you just may have to accept that MGS has moved on and gone over your head. It has its little problems and hindrances but what game doesn't? No game is perfect.
And to clarify, before you can use this to counter me, this isn't me being a MGS fanboy. I'm a fan of majority rules and if the majority say the game is good then the game is probably good, if I don't like it then that's a matter of my own taste. Like I hate Prince of Persia (the original) but the rest of the world holds it highly, fair enough then, it's my personal taste holding me back. You can't say a series is crap because YOU don't like it.

SpusydSince 2 sucked and 3 disappointed me, I think that if I don't like 4 I'm going to lay a stake into the heart of the series then.
A series cannot be "dead" if it was planned all along since the first game, since "dead" means that it has ran out of ideas and lacks originality. And that's not the case of the Metal Gear Solid series, which is full of touching and developed stories for every character and very remarkable scenes that have shown the talent of its Director and Creator. It wasn't meant to be just one game and then as it became famous and successful they decided to make another one. No, it's one long and complex story told in different games by different characters through different times.
The only thing that pops into mind is ... omg so disoriented!
