After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Disney buying Marvel for $4 billion

Surfing the web I've found this new:

MSN news
Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine. The possibilities boggle after Walt Disney announced today that it will buy Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion in cash and stock. The purchase gives Disney, the operator of theme parks and the ABC broadcast network, ownership of more than 5,000 Marvel characters.

As important, the deal will give Disney something it really doesn't have: entertainment that appeals to boys. With the "Hannah Montana" franchise and the blockbuster Princesses merchandising line, Disney already has a strong position in entertainment that appeals to girls, especially little girls. Films based on Iron Man, Spider-Man and Wolverine have pulled in hundreds of millions at the box office. Disney CEO Bob Iger said buying Marvel will allow Disney to extend the characters in its parks and stores (watch the video at the bottom of this article).

Despite I found the move economically acceptable, as a Marvel comics fan I'm afraid that Disney's evil tentacles will corrupt the quality of comics, movies and even merchandise. Enough harm has caused with things like Kingdom Hearts.

What do you think?

For Disney, it's good business. For Marvel, it's great business. For the fans? I'm not too sure. This doesn't sit right for me at all. I mean, there are aspects to this buyout which I don't mind particularly. Marvel getting a bit more recognition and advertising through the Disney brand isn't too bad as there are some really good comics out there people should read. But as you noted on in your post, I fear there's going to be watering down. Not on a huge scale though, I think comics will be untouched but I semi-expect titles like Punisher to slowly dissolve into nothing as it doesn't fit Disney's audience range. As for movies? No idea. Not sure how the Spiderman deal is going to work now because Sony is the one behind them so far and I imagine they still have rights and all that to it which I assume Disney wouldn't like and stuff like Iron Man which kinda hits on a lot of adult material doesn't seem like something Disney would stick with in the long run.

I'm iffy on it but hey, at least that means there's going to be some really crazy wacked-up worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3.

The end is nigh. Disney has proven it's more concerned with profit margins than the artistry of animation. Whilst Marvel may not be overly different as a company, they have fostered quite a number of artists via their publishing of comics. Hopefully, Disney don't interfere with this practise and destroy what little integrity Marvel has outright.

It's been a very long time since I enjoyed a marvel comic. Dark Horse has been my preferred comic brand for a good time now. Disney probably is going to make Marvel even more PG then it was. (in relation to Manga and Dark Horse, Marvel was always pretty tame)

With Hollywood trying to make all my children stories into movies I feel almost insulted by the way the media has been moving in America. 'Hey let's make a movie from x comic book.. Script?? Who needs script?! Just spend a few million in special effects and good looking actresses !

You know what I want to see? I want Tarantino to direct a live action Black Lagoon, with some good actors and story. Now that would be a cash cow.

I honestly don't think it will have much impact at all for the characters we all know and love. The only impact it will have is financially, which in turn is a good thing. It means they'll have more money to put into projects concerning Marvel. I'm not saying that throwing more money at something is always a good thing, but it can help them in a variety of sections. Besides, this happened to DC when Warn Bros. bought them and they've been fine since.

omg omg omg WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY NooO omg i Hate Disney with a passion! (although i know if it weren't for disney the anime I love wouldn't be here today) But really!? come on now marvel was doing fine on its own! but the people above are right Disney needed to do more to attract boys and why not have marvel characters to crush theme park competition even further into the ground? six flags has dc comic characters an D.C. is owned by warner brothers. I love looney toons . so wait is it gonna end up being like bugs bunny against mickey mouse now with super hero back up? thats great for a game idea actually Warnner .V.S. Disney!
hmmm 4 billion? ..... thats a great sell out price though.
disney would be wise to keep thier grubby white gloved mitts out of marvel movie production though throw cash at it sure but don't do anything else. I'm waiting for a GOOD Avengers movie fro marvel not a disney or a disney-esqe movie.

one of my gripes with disney is that is's racist as hell. they may make make the charater nick fury more white and less cool samuel jackson.
high school musical with that phony 'black' kid corbin blue, hanna montanna -ye haw-, that phony 'black' princess movie that went to DVD!!, movies based in africa with absolutley no black people!? Lion king had an excuse and then don't get me started on Tarzan!! then that racist disney book that came out a long tiime ago where mickey had brought home an african that tried to hunt every thing and mickey had to reprmand him "bad blacky goofy is not food!" i can go on all day but I digress for now

If there is anything more cheesy than...uhm...what are those guys called again? Oh yes, the Jonas Brothers, then that thing would receive an inter-galactic cheese trophy.

Anyone who thought of making such cheese, and then buying into cool and kick-ass superhero stuff, would just lamify it.

Economically speaking this is a good move, both by Marvel and Disney. They'll have money to spend, and hopefully this will help North America's economic downturn (probably not, but here's to hoping). For both companies, this was a good move though--Disney acquires rights to many new and colourful characters to play with and water down (curse them), while Marvel gets new financial backing. So to speak.

On the other hand, as is for the concern of many fans, including myself, Marvel's quality may decline even more than it has before (Heck, they have a little chibi Marvel show running somewhere, my cousin was just watching it. Ick...x-x). I mean, Marvel is pretty laid back in comparison to the dark atmosphere that's usually presented in DC Comics, but now that it's associated with Disney, I fear it'll be made even worse so that parents would feel that their toddler children would be safe from nightmares in watching it.

Another concern I have is the big evil corporation thing. I know it's all speculation and theory, but I'm a paranoid person. I don't like big evil corporations. Haha.

I think they're wasting money. There are a lot of people out there who survive on a dollar a week and they are using 4 billion dollars to buy things for fat little rich kids here who have more toys than can ever be imagined when on the other side of the world there are children who not only don't have a single to play with, but they don't have food at their tables.

Humans need to get their priorities straight.

I wouldn't worry too much about the general quality of the movies, people worried we might be losing something great when Disney took over Pixar, but they have still released some great films, but I agree about them imposing restrictions. Many Marvel characters are very dark and conflicted and I expect they will have to have a bit of a PC makeover before they are allowed in any Disney movies! Disney are bound to turn their stories into a good old fashioned battle of good and evil! But that said, there is every possibility that it will open up the genre to a wider audience.

That Jetix channel or whatever already had a Spiderman show on it, so Disney's already tapped their way into Marvel productions and spinoffs, it can't do any worse of a job than it already has. Besides, Marvel spinoff productions have been going on for a long time, just choose to ignore the stuff that may or not be produced now that Disney's acquired it if it's that bad. As Pixar's shown us, Disney can keep something good. Besides, Disney owns Miramax and none of those are" Disney'd up" by any means.

I don't think this will prove bad for the fans of Marvel. I'm really interested to see what will come out of them now that they have resources from Disney. I think it'll be like a Disney/Pixar relationship where they just let Lassiter and the gang bust out great quality work.

Also, it'll open up jobs for animators to do better quality Marvel shows. I'm looking forward to seeing what this new acquisition brings out.

When I first saw the post I was like "WTF?! Marvel going bankrupt or something?"
I never knew Disney was so concern about profit. That is so low. I have great respect for Disney but now I'm not so sure anymore.
