The Latest on Harry Potter
I did hear about it, but I don't really like that she tells us in advance how many people are going to die. For example, I forgot about it when book 5 came out, but then my friend reminded me that someone was going to die. Because of this, I was constantly looking for foreshadowing as to who it would be. I would rather simply enjoy the book and allow myself to be surprised.
As to who it could be, I think it'd be interesting to have Harry die, although I doubt that will happen. What is more likely is Snape and Voldemort. What do you think?

At first there were rumors that Ron is going to die, maybe she changed her mind about him? That would be pretty nice because Ron is one of my favorite characters.
I wouldn't expect Rowling to write a happy ending because it's so cliché.

I agree, I don't like that she tells. I hate all the spoilers that surface- such as from book 6:
But- as far as speculation goes, I think Voldemort will definately be killed. And I'm not sure about the second- but I believe it will be an adult. Course, I haven't given it much thought. I too would rather just be surprised.
I meant to mention that the film Order of the Pheonix is set to hit movie theaters on July 31st in the UK. So, that is good news. Goblet of Fire was my favorite book- and they didn't ruin the story too badly concidering the length of the book. Of course, OotP is much longer- that'll be a kink in the works.

I quite think Voldemort is going to die. I mean it is the last book after all and what a bad ending if voldemort sill lives and reaks havoc all over the muggle and wizarding world. well voldemort could turn into a good person and someone else dies. who knows. Oh i also had this idea that maybe dumbledore might come alive in the 7th book. You know how he keeps and phoenix in his office? well maybe he has that same ability to be reborn out of the ashes. i don't know... just speculation.

Right. And, JK said the reason she would kill Harry- if she did- would be so that no one can make a sequel. So, the same should hold for Volty, right?
And, she also said last year that we would be seeing Dumbledore again. She didn't say in what form- but I immediately thought of the portraits of all the Hogwarts professors in his (er... Minerva's) office- other folks from mugglenet think he'll be back in the form of a ghost. Who knows.

I haven't read the latest news, but my friends have told me
about this too, yeah i also hate it when something is reaviled
before time, but definately voldamort is going to die,
thats one, but who else is going to die i dont have much
of a clue, but all in all the stories are great, the theme is
good, one thing that really dissappoined me was the death of
serious black, i still cant get over it,
as for the movies, i didnt like them much, cause they are
short and the details are skipped from it, so its quite difficult
to think, that the future movies are going to contain in details
in it, i wish they would make parts of it,
i am really crazy about harry potter, and whats more disaopinting
is that its going to end, although its better that we can get to
read the end,

I agree with you that the movies for Harry Potter suck especially the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Chamber of Secrets. The Philosphers stone and the Goblet of Fire were alright though. Especially with all the dragons and stuff. For Sirius black i imagined him differently when i first read the book. I didn't think he'll look like the actor they employed for the movie. Now when i read the book again i always imagine the actor now and not my one that i created in my mind and that sucks oh well.

I hope the director in the next harry Potter movie READS the book and then direct the movie according to the book so not everything is left out for example the lastest move Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is left so much out so if you never read the book you probably wont understand the point of the story.

[quote=LenasLover]Have you heard what Rowling said about the latest book?
that info you have hidden as spoiler is the only bit ive heard as well- read it in the newspaper. 1 will get a reprieve, whatever that is (feel free to answer!), and 2 will die.. quite possibly harry, which will deeply upset me.

They always read the book. The movie was over 2 hours long, and let's face it- they think they are catering to kids mostly, and kids won't sit through a 6 hour movie. When was the last time you heard of a 10 year old watching Gone with the Wind? They did leave a lot out of GoF, and Azkaban.. but they didn't have much choice. For a brief time, Warner Brothers concidered splitting Gof into two films, but they found it wouldn't be feesable. And let's not forget- they are working agaist some biological clocks. Movie 6 & 7 are going to see young adults playing mid aged teens. Which isn't a huge stretch, but still. As for understanding it, I know a lot of people who watched the films but did not read the books (which is silly- the books are much better) but anyhow, they didn't have a problem understanding anything. You don't miss what you've never heard about (such as Hermione's S.P.E.W. stuff).
I found a clue to what might happen in the seventh book.
Shortly before the release of book 5, in an interview for the BBC, she was asked about Harry's future by Jeremy Paxman:
JEREMY PAXMAN: So you know what is going to become of all the major characters over the span of the series?
JK ROWLING: Yeah..yeah.
JEREMY PAXMAN: Why stop when they grow up? Might be interesting to know what becomes of Harry as an adult.
JK ROWLING: How do you know he'll still be alive?
JEREMY PAXMAN: Oh. At the end of book seven?
JK ROWLING: It would be one way to kill off the merchandising.
When J.K Rowling was further questioned about authors who kill off their main characters she said "I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks, 'Well, I'm going to kill them off because that means there can be no non-author-written sequels ... so it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'".

I have heard about two characters being killed off. And truthfully, I'm secretly hoping that Harry would be one of the characters to die. I mean in the recent books, he has gotten quite bitchy and moody, regardless of what some people may say that he is merely maturing or is under a lot of stress. I prefer the fourth book and not the later books as it gets too complex and confusing. It seems that in almost every book something new is uncovered and it is connected with Harry and Voldmort. Anyways I wonder who else will be killed and that bit about Dumbledore appearing again has me guessing.
I think that from all the things that have happened, it's very likely that Ron will die. He fits all the other iconic achetypes of best friend/shadow who dies in the big battle against evil etc, etc...
As for the other character, either Harry or Vodlie-locks has to die. I'm almost certain that Voldie will die. Harry Potter isn't the kind of book where evil pervails. It is still a book geared towards children afterall, and I can't see Rowling willing to send children a message that evil will win. (Although really, Voldie is a TERRIBLE character as far as villians are concerned. Tom was wonderful, but Voldie is more cute than supreme evil) Still, the only way that Harry can die is WITH Voldie. But I don't really see this happening either.
So basically I'm putting my bets on Voldie and Ron with the possibility of Voldie and Harry. I hope to god it isn't Harry though. I'd much sooner Ron die off.
