bye bro! Is sex a WANT oR a NEED?
Hello everyone!
this topic didnt just popped up in my mind, it was really bugging me. so i would like to ask you side here. i have my own, and i would present it here.
it is a fact that, through sex human can reproduce. and now, not only having sex, man can reproduce. many other ways, and artificial ways. the basic needs of humans to live is, food, air, water, shelter. owww... where is sex there? doesnt that mean it isnt a need for human to survive?
i do think that a human can survive his/her entire life without having sex. and we say a need... what i understand from a need is that, we cant live without it. or a span of time without it will not let us survive. a man can survive without food, air, water and shelter in a span of time. but not long. but sex? anyone can live without it.
i say its just a want, and without that we can still survive.

Sex is desire...natural desire. It not need to survive anything like that. Just natural desire. It doesn't mean that I will die if I don't have sex.

In my case, it's a want. But that doesn't mean I actually WANT it. XD *grins* It means I can live my entire life through without ever having it. But for all I know, that could be because I'm a girl. Someone once told me that girls can survive without sex...So does that mean guys can't? (I really am curious about this, too.)

i don't know what you have against sex. everyone gets the urge once in a while. there must be something wrong with you if you haven't. and you're only looking from the human perspective. humans are not the only ones that have sex. animals have sex though, stritcly for reproduction only. and grow up first and think carefully before making statements like this.
Uh, its fun to have, but we kinda need it if we are to survive as a species =)

Well, we won't die if we have never invented clothing either. So, strictly speaking, there's no need to cover our body at all. No?
We need to have sex cus of natural instinc. We can actually live without clothes like babymelon have said but you can't stop your natural instinc or something cus the human's minds knows on its own that they had to have sex to reproduce human species as much as possible.

And artificial insemination one goes as far as to stop the actual process of sex, sperm still needs to be "harvested" and you still have to wait until the egg is fertile. All this basically means is that you just don't have the physical process of sex, or the love...anyway.

It's a need if you see it from a biological perspective and and a want if you do so from a human pleasure one.

The sex drive is a natural evolutionary trait. It's basically the urge to reproduce the species, so that we don't go extinct. Even if some people can live without ever having sex, if everyone did there'd be no one left after that generation. And besides, even though humans can artificially reproduce now that's only been around for maybe 50 years at most. Evolution has been around for hundreds of millions of years. You can't beat evolution that fast. The whole reason why sex is pleasurable, is because it makes people want to have it. And if people want to have it, then they'll do it. And if people do it, then babies will be born that will someday grow up and repeat the cycle all over again. Sure though, if in millions of years humans always artifially reproduce (probably by means of genetic engineering...crazy super babies or something lol), then yeah, humans would eventually lose their sex drives. (in fact, odds are we may lose our reproductive organs altogether thinking they're useless) But until then, I think most people are ganna stick with the old fasion way
