So someone already put the question how is your country and I think that's a really good thing that way we repeat geography somehow.Well for me the curiousity is not about the seasons or the landscapes I want to know more about the traditions and cultures of all the countries,I think every culture has it's own interesting things!I started reading Shougun(I hope I spelt it right) these days and the culture of Japanese is even more intriguing right now,i want to get to know it even better.
As for me I live in Romania a country full of traditions but right now some of them are being forgotten or changed with those from other countries, especially those from USA,which from my point of view it's not right. We have our own celebration of love called "Dragobete" what is the need for Valentine's Day,maybe because it is more popular. .We have also our own Halloween better said a sort of Halloween celebrated on "Saint AndreiDay"(Andrew in English,I think),on 30th of November..this day some people still put garlic at the windows and doors to chase away evil spirits also this day we put grain in little plates to grow,we throw it away after the New Year usually,it is said that if it grows beautiful and dense you will have a good year.
We celebrate on the 6th of December Saint Nicolae(Nicholas)-and on 5th we usually clean our shoes and if we behaved well we receive sweets in our shoes if not we receive a "nuia" a sort of stick(you can imagine that it's used for kids who don't behave).
On Christmas kids are coming to sing carols and they usually receive apples, crackels and nuts and of course money! We also have some typical foods..they can't really be translated anyway all the foreigners that drop by and eat them fall in love with them>:3 emoticon!
The New Year...oh,boy(9+_+) emoticon...there are like so many things to do:it's not good to eat chicken all day and night,on the table there have to be 12 or more types of food, when it's twelve o'clock it's usually good to have garlic, money and something read on you.Of course before this day it's good to not have nay debt or for someone to be in debt with you something, they say you will have debts all the next year!
The Easter...well we don't have chocolate eggs we have real eggs, usually painted in red and there are places in the country where people developed a real art in painting them...they make all sorts of drawings, they even use beads. At every celebration it's usually good to eat fish.
The traditions differ actually in every zone of the country, living in town and even in the capital not so many are still kept!

What about your country, does it have some traditions in particular or they are forgotten?(o_o) emoticon

It's a tradition here to cry unto walls and weep how utterly miserable and meaningless your life is.

Frankly I don't think there are still real german traditiones remaining. Most are just christian traditions or public holidays...

Our culture and tradition still remains today. Let me name some:

The city I'm living in is famous for the festival held annually every third Sunday of January. It's called " Sinulog"; in honor of the child Jesus.

pictures

During Holy Week that usually starts at April, some places would held the Crucifixion and would volunteer to be crucified.

Those are some which most of the world knows, but not everybody I guess.

Oh my gosh rijiru-chan that is pretty nice, the clothes look amazing, well I would like to see that thing on the streets over here. That reminds me that before the New Year there also come here people from all over the country with carols, but more special, and yeah we have carols for the New Year too. It's pretty hard to explain I'll try to find some pics!
Well it's too bad that that in Germany you don't keep any traditions, but I don't know I want to believe that there are still o few!
Hmm and guys don't be pesimistic, because of my it it got me to not sleep about 1 or 2 months and now it's like I feel tired all the time!

Hehe maybe that is true but I don't know the people over here are also very tolerant! But what about the traditions in Canada?I mean okay everyone is free to make from another nation's traditions it's own but usually I don't think I would ever see U.S.A taking the March Amulet(Martisor in my language) as a new tradition for them altough it's very cute...it's a symbol of spring celebrated on first of March,we practically have 2 Women's day 1st of March and Eight of March and 9th of March it's also a celebration and for some it got to be Men's Day and of course they are very cute!I don't have anything with people from U.S.A by the way,I am only being realistic here..I respect them and their traditions because they do have some and very popular too all over the world!

I would have to disagree on the Canadian one. I just came back from AE in Canada and by god I went through hell with YOUR border patrol. Yes you heard right the CANADIAN not the US but the Canadian Border Patrol treated us rather poorly and to add on top of that most of the people we were around were rather rude at the fact that I came from Washington State, which happens to be the most liberal state in the US. If you're supposed to be open minded and tolerant, then I would have to say that I did not see any common courtesy in your country. I'm sure that there are good points to it, but given how much grief your people caused me to make me dislike my trip, I'd rather much stay in Seattle for now and have fun with indy rock bands and be in a place that's more friendly and tolerant.

Hm, I don't think there are any particular traditions in austria, or at least I don't know them.
there are just the christian traditions, which don't really count because they are in a lot of countries. yeah, well, maybe that's just because I'm not really interested in my country or traditions...(o_o) emoticon

There are plenty of australian traditions such as: the weekend neighborhood BBQ, which i might add always have snags on the barby and a good leg of lamb. This isnt really a tradition actually but moreso a sterotype of australian life. Its just that australia is to multicultural to have a strict set of traditions and really australia celebrates all religous traditions, if not on a large scale in their own community.

Well the idea isn't about strict traditions but about things that are traditional for you and the others and that are fun in some way!
I don't know I see traditions as something fun and in my country I just named a few not all of them because there are more.I mean there are some that aren't even related to fun stuff more like to the idea of vampires and so on.Yeah I come from the country that gave the world the myth (or how you want to call it)of vampires!
Labor Day we have that one too, isn't 1st of May but the other one we don't!

Umm...i come from a part of the world where people think is a third world area...but!!! my contry is the...bum!!!!!!yeah!! we may not have every thing but at least we have somethings.happyness,co-operation and peace!..but we have corruption...lots of it...but it isn't that affective on mE & my people!! yeah...BACK TO THE POINT.apart from the colonisation,we still have festivals which are unpronounceable. we have the famous way of dressing which isn't so famous.we have traditonal food, but really the point...men marry more than one woman!!!and they have no choice but to live together...but not my dad..i would have killed him!!then the ruler who is called an"oba" is not allowed to rule if he has no male child.but this stuff is all bad...we have the "sungo festival!!"...the"argungu fishing festival!!!"& the "ewo festival"..the's are all yoruba and hausa words..so if you don't understand forget it!!!
