Ok, I took on some of your advice about own ideas, i thought a burned paper effect would be good so i tried it but i still dont know if it looks good, So i want some feedback on this new piece with my own ideas.
How i did this was, first drew some lines between the image with effect and without, then cutted it so it looks like that (the one on the corners), since it was just a plain black line between the 2 (effect and without) i made a charkol like effect on where the lines where then it looked like that (the black smudg on the near corner) Then put some shadow behind the layer wich is "nice and plain" (the real scan), then thats about it.

.
No doubt it looks really pretty
However only taking a snap shot and add some text may make it very hard to pass the approval. I saw other people taking snap shot and but they also did the clean up so they get passed.
but Makoto Shinkai's flewless and high quality work may really don't need any more clean up, brush, filter or other effect, any snap shot of his film could be a wall and get a A.
hmmmm...I don't know...maybe we just need more your own design ideas...
Just like delacour said, hard to say what you could do with the image and if it would be improved, based on what you edited. :S Lovely scan though!!
EDIT: OUpon looking at the last in the list of links, something is really strange about it, I like the detailed one better, the phone lines in the last one are confusing me.

It's kind of like a centralized focus, the edges of your site are blurred.
And BTW, that burned paper effect as you call it, I didn't know it was a burned paper effect until I read your comment (I look first ask questions second :P) and I was just like "What's these three blotchy black lines on this wallie"
Snapshot *lightbulb* I have seen these other walls where it's looking at a desk and then there's stuff like this encased in little polaroids, or picture frames or such, but from what I hear they are very hard to do properly.
