This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

I am also new to the anime watching my friend just got me really started on it this year I had seen some of the kid type (Yu-Gi-Oh, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, things like that) but my friend really got me into it and so far I have seen at least 20 different animes. Anyway so far my favorite is either Oran Host Club, or Bleach (I have only seen up to 48 so far).

O. That's a tough choice. I'd have to say it's a tie between 'Revolutionary Girl Utena' and 'Chrono Crusade'. I really love the characters in both. Especially Chrono from 'Chrono Crusade' and Miki from 'Utena'. I love those animes. ^_^ Really really good. Highly recommended. ^_^

I would say Chrono Crusade, it started pretty average but the plot became darker and darker towards the end... and whoa!, awesome ending, none other anime I have seen even comes close.

1) Black Lagoon--I like violence. I like violent women. I like violent women with guns and boobs. The OP won me immediately, and I immediately got drunk on the action, grittiness, amoral behavior and the pessimistic but pragmatic attitude of Revy (she's my love child).
2) Elfen Lied--Simple forumula: Lucy/Nyu + outrageous violence = sexy psychopath that "kicks ass and takes names." Even the subplots and supporting cast have various elements of one emotional/psychotic order, summed up with the very innocent Nyu, who you want to do un-innocent things to.
3) Texhnolyze--Nothing like a distopic anime to reinforce that world is going to shit. This anime reminds me of a favorite real-life saying of mine, "I have too kinds of luck:bad and worse."
4) Cowboy Bebop--What's to say that hasn't been said? This is near perfection. My wife and I screamed at the TV at the ending.
5) Daphne in Brilliant Blue--Baddass bitches that are hot and handle problems the correct way: with violence. Gloria, dumb as an ox, was my favorite since she liked to play with guns.
6) Samurai Seven--I burned though the entire series in two days. Magnificent homage to The Seven Samurai.

I'm sure i have more!

Cowboy Bebop. It's perfect it nearly every way. From the direction, to the art design, to the music, to the animation; it's stunning. I dare you to find another anime that will leave you feeling the way you do when those credits finally roll. Nothing can.

Taking a massive turn here: Haruhi is my second. What an ingenious anime!

Oh yeah.. Saying Gundam Wing is one of the greatest anime ever made is like saying having AIDS is fun.

The best anime I'w ever seen has to be the Full Metal Panic series. It has everything, intence action, heart beating drama and there is always time for a laugh. The only bad thing is that it needs atleast another season before its complete.

For a long series: Yu Yu Hakusho is a great classic.
For an OVA: Nothing beats Rurouni Kenshin OVA1. A stunning work; 10/10 for plot, music, design and animation

More recently, Fullmetal Alchemist won me over, although a read of the manga made me like it less =p

...and lastly... I really have to admit, Sailormoon is a great classic.
Roll your eyes all you want, but there is yet a series to challenge how Sailormoon changed the anime world XD

The greatest anime of all time? i think its elfen lied. The reason I like the anime isnt because of the violent(when it does affect the story but, :P), but is because of the storyline. I like how the anime portraits each of the characters, each of the characters has their own emotonal/psychological problem, to deal with the outside world, and its fun watching how these characters became somewhat like a "family." Each of the episode has their happy and dark moments and it really interested me.
