Suppose a forum post of yours has been deleted (by a moderator or whoever) and you wanted to know the reason so you can learn from your mistake... Is there any way you could find out why it was removed (or by whom, or even when)?

We only delete posts with nothing inside which means the creator has written nothing into it or the post was deleted.
If a thread goes against the rules it will be closed, normally by a mod who states the reason for the closing at the end of the thread.

I see now. That's funny, though, as I definitely did write something in my reply (a good four or five paragraphs, in fact), yet it seems to have completely vanished. Oh well, no use crying over splilt milk. I was just concerned that perhaps I'd violated a policy I wasn't aware of and that's why my post was deleted.

Posts may be deleted individually if they constitute spam or another violation of our rules. I don't recall having done so in that specific thread though.

Well, I'm not sure what happend to your post.
It's definitly not in there any more.
It could be that your post had nothing to do with the topic itself so it was deleted but I doubt that. Maybe another mod/admin can throw in his/her 2 cents about that.

Well, while I'm pretty sure my post was on-topic and non-spammy, I'll trust and abide by the moderators' judgment. I do still hope that another mod would show up and cast some light on the subject, of course.

I've seen that thread, but I haven't deleted anybody posts. I usually leave them as reference so I can point to it if people ask me why their forum posting ability were disabled.

I only read the topic when it was first started but after that, real life commitments gave me no time to actually go through forum posts. So I haven't looked into the subforum threads in quite awhile.
