Can't login using Opera 9.50
6 months 3 weeks ago
I just updated my Opera browser and now I realize I can't login using it. There is no space to fill the login and password.
In asking the question you've identified the cause. You've updated Opera and it no longer works as expected. Does this not suggest to you that the problem is with Opera and not with the site specifically?

Using the Dragonfly (opera debugger), I've identify a lot of errors in the site. It was made to work with IE and Ff, but not with Opera. WC3 all the way.
The site's made primarily to work with Firefox actually.
Had the same problem. Tried clearing the cache, restarting, reinstalling, everything. I'm on Netscape (which is very similar to Firefox) now to post this.
Can this be used to solve the problem? I don't know how it works... I'd very much like to get back to using Opera. Meh, maybe I'll downgrade it.
This is what it looks like, BTW.

You might wanna resize that image so it fits in the post. i can tell the login button's not there, but it would be nice to see the whole thing.
that's the thing about technology, rarely is it universal. so though it may work with some programs it doesn't with others. this is not the only site that has issues with different browsers, in fact just about every site will have some kind of problem with one browser or another. most code writers lack the time to code a site for every browser type and keep it working right for all of them. take into consideration that there is usually only a few programmers for any given site, and this is sufficient. perhaps opera should consider making there browser more site friendly, and more versatile, rather than it's users expecting the sites to make themselves compatible.
if you prefer opera, it'd be wiser, and more advantageous on your part to suggest to them to change the browser so it's more compatible. it'd be a good business decision for them anyways.

To log in, use the below link.

The above link can be found using the VIEW SOURCE option in the browser menu and then CTRL+F "login".
While it does not solve your browser problem, it at least gives you a way to log into your AP account.

@ damoser: Haha. Yeah, should have thought of that. Thanks. I changed the image. Alternatively, you could have copied the image location and opened it in another window or something... But that'd be too much to ask.
True, I can't expect everything to work for me. I like Opera for it's features and relative lightness, but, it tends to be rather incompatible with certain sites, I know. This is precisely why I didn't straight out ask for the problem to be solved by AP. I'm still wondering if this Dragonfly tool can do anything about it.
Opera has many more problems to solve, and if I suggest this problem to them, it'd probably take a longer while if it ever gets looked at, not to mention that they'd probably say the same thing i.e. "it's not the browser, it's the site." Besides, Opera is free. Then again, I don't really know how browser developers make their money exactly. I suppose I'll wait while using some other alternative till Opera releases it's next version that'll hopefully inadvertently solve the problem.
@ Dias: Thanks! I can totally live with this.

Actually isn't a problem with Opera. Opera beats FF and IE in the acid3 test [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid3], wich means it renders better a site made by the w3c standards [link=http://www.w3.org/]. The problem is people don't give a damn to the w3c standards, and make the sites just testing with the more common browsers.
necrophyte, the Dragonfly is just a javascript debugger, like the Firebug in Firefox. It just identifies problems of the site. It can be used by the webmasters to fix some errors (if they want fo fix them).
Ah, and thanks for the link, Dias.

Firefox is used due to cross platform availibility. Bantam primarily uses a mac based system when coding.
This version of AP was my first attempt at writing javascript, it was poor and I only tested it in firefox and IE, the upcoming version of AP resolves most of these issues, just hold on please!

I have the same problem, I'm using Opera 9.51. It's a pity I can't use this site on my favorite browser - opening another application just for one site is inconvenient.
Maybe there is no need for this complex login box which doesn't work everywhere? At least make an option in the menu for a simple login.

This is temporary patch for the "invisible login button".
(tested on 9.5 & 9.5.1)

download the patch here (229 bytes)
save it inside %program files%/opera/styles/user/ & follow the below step to set opera user styles.
1. Open your opera, goto "view > styles > manage modes"

2. click the "Presentation modes" tab & select "User mode".

3. next click on the "Display" tab.

4. click the "choose" button, browse to the saved file and click OK.
5. Refresh opera.

Isn't Opera also equally available on several platforms? In fact, doesn't Opera support several interesting, leading-edge platforms that IE and Firefox simply haven't even begun to touch... like Wii, NDS, and a vast list mobile devices?
At the time that the bulk of the coding for V5 was done no.

bye bro!
