Yep, finally airing this spring. (:
According to the March issue of Newtype magazine, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2 will begin in April.

In addition to this, there will also be webcasts of "Haruhi-chan" and "Tsuruya-san," two parody shorts, starting on Friday Feb 13th via Kadokawa's Anime Youtube channel. Episodes will be released weekly, but at random times.

I'm looking forward to it. The first series was kinda short. And I never got to know who was that shady guy on the stormy cliff. Another thing to anticipate is the OP. New dance I hope.

I remember they announced the second season either on July 5 or July 7 of 2007. It was the same day I got my semi-full driver's lisence so I remember being uber-happy that day.
Now this is a great news for a change!
The novels were going to an awesome direction, although they are stalled right now, but that is not the point here . . .
The point is that I, like pretty much everyone else who enjoy reading the novels(at least i think so) would love to see volume 4 animated!

Well, well, well! I think the millions upon millions of Haruhiists are going to raising their hands in celebration, singing "Haruhillujah she is back!" For me, I knew that with the series still going on in manga and light novel form, there was due to be a sequel.
I reckon that everyone on AnimePaper, and other communities like deviantART, MiniTokyo and the imageboards (4chan, 2ch, etc.) had to wait a long time to see if this would really happen, but now, it is certified and canvassed: Haruhi Suzumiya is indeed, back.
