So what's your take on the 360 launch?

I personally have been on both sides of the issue. Being in the store when the 360 went on sale, it was hard not to get excited for it. Especially when it's impossible for employees to buy it, makes you very envious. Yet a month has come and gone, and people have gotten enough time to really think about it all.
Was it a success? Everyone talks about it, everyone wants it, and even though it doesn't even work well as of yet, people are willing to shell out thousands of dollars for this piece of plastic. Have we really seen that happened before?
Or was it the WORST LAUNCH EVAR? Everybody wants it but no one can get it. It crashes, it burns, it falls. It has no games and the next ones aren't for another month or two. The monsters that were ElderScroll and DOA have been pushed back and aside from Call of Duty 2, there's really nothing worth playing (Perfect Dark being anything BUT perfect).
Which camp do you fall in? Or you haven't decided? Need more time to really tell whether Microsoft has really stepped in it this time or found a "Rich Thorium Vein"? (too much WoW)

In USA/Europe: A complete success.
in Japan: A complete failure. They have to lower the price to maybe sell some X0s.
So verdict? Both good and bad =)
For myself? It sucks since there are no intresting games. No good release. Maybe after a year or two some games will be intresting. But at this moment? A total failure.

I'd have to say it is a success since they are sold out EVERYWHERE and on ebay they all go for $700+.
As for games, Call of Duty 2, Condemed: Criminal Origins, Dead or Alive 4, Gears of War, Gun, NBA 2K6, NFS:Most Wanted, Prey, Project Gothom 3, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Quake 4 and more games to come. I am normally a computer gamer but XBox 360 has a very tempting lineup. And you say some of those games are not out yet, TRUE, but how many games are out for the PS3 or Nintendo Revolution? 0, yet, a big fat 0, cause those haven't even released yet! Not much of a choice eh? Next Gen XBox 360, or nothing... not a hard choice.

Meh I got one at launch and gotta say I'm already bored with it. Perfect Dark Zero was a huge disappointment since I love the 1st one, Kameo was awesome but waaay too short sooo I traded in PDZ for Need for speed Most wanted which im surprised at how fun it is. Cannot wait to play DOA4 (The only reason why i bought the system) hopefully it wont get pushed back AGAIN.

Yeah, I'd go with nothing whithout a second thought, too. ^_~
Of course the XBox360 was a general success. I just can't care for it (except for maybe DoA4). In fact, I can't bring myself to care about ANY of the NextGens until they completely stop making games for all of the current systems and I get bored of all the games I have. And that's going to take awhile.

wana know why it was a "dissappointment" (it sucks). It is beause it was originally designed for Game Cube. They decided to not release it beause Game Cube didn't have the internet capabilities they wanted. Perfect Dark was "eh", lagged and gameplay was alright (Golden Eye was better!) Perfect Dark Zero... a stupid gamecube game that ditched gamecube for a better console, too bad the game still sucked.

not true, more powerful system does NOT mean just better graphics. More interesting gameplay, better ai, better realism (physics and object interation), better level design capabilites, and many other things. Even reguardless, whats wrong with better graphics? I love good graphics, and thats why I play PC games, hahahahaha (jk jk, consoles are cool too)

Well................... the Xbox 360 is awsome........... we can put the Hard-dosk or we cant put........ but it wont surpass the PS3.................. the PS3 have a Chip called "Cell ".
With the Cell......... the Graphics of PS3 will be the best.

I have to say the Xbox 360 launch was quite successful seeing as it is sold out in most places. Although even if I was a Xbox fan I wouldn't buy one yet hearing that some turns out to be deffective.

hey TheMadManAzn,that not what i mean.,I know that the gameplay will more intresting,better realism,bla bla bla...what i mean is no more NEW exciting gameplay,no more new ideas of new game.Right now,game in NextGen console is just a remake of the old-version game with new stuff.TES:Oblivion,perfect dark zero,final fantasy XII.even final fantasy getting worse...
I personal dont like the xbox 360 i never liked xbox the controls are to big.
How can it mean anything to me. If I really don't feel anything at all?
I think the 360 is a success for the majority of the area and a failure in the places where people aren't familiar with microsoft making console systems for gameplay.. and the games itself aren't that popular amongst everyone who isn't in u.s./canada/europe.

It was only a success in US/Europe. I read around a bit (so im not 100% sure) but the 360 sold a lot less than expect in Japan, even less than the xbox did in the first couple of days.
EDIT: according to http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4524036.stm. 75k 360s sold over 2 days as opposed to the expected 160k. The original xbox sold 130k in 3 days...
