Brainwashing...anime style

Lol, well anyways im looking for the best approach to showing someone the wonderful world of anime. Its a girl so these things could be complicated. im looking for suggestions of which animes to show her that she would most likly like. Most of the stuff i like, witht he exception of a few, is extreamly violent or has an extreamly disturbing message built into the anime somewhere (such as Lain, parinoria agent, and some others'sorry for spelling'). If you can, post the names of some animes you think would be good to indroduce her to anime.
I would recommend Fruits Basket cause it has comedy, drama and its full with mysteries within a family. All the characters in this anime is cute, fun, easy going and they all want to make you laugh ^_^. If you haven't heard, the series is about a girl called Toru Honda who is ophraned when her mother died in a car crash. When Yuki Sohma invites her into his house, she learns about the terrible secret of the chinese zodiac curse with in Sohma family. More info on the intro can be found here:
Fruits Basket
I recommended cause it shows true friendships among the people you live with and the people who are your friends. It also shows the hardships of growing up in life and how you deal with unexpected situations
I hope this help ^_^

I have got that problem with girls too! Its not easy to let them show anime's ;( uhm you can try with fruits basket like December said but maybe you can try it with love hina? or something else that is cute?
I suggest to tie her in a chair...and force her to watch some anime full of bishies and with romance (i dont know why .. but girls love that)..like loveless...or love hina ...
I would suggest Hand Maid May! It's soo funny XD And there is a love story too... something that a girl will like ^^ But I am shure there are other animes that you can show her if you ask her what she likes in movies for example. Lol if she is pervy you can show her some hentai XD joking ;] I would suggest something funny, because it's always good to laugh and serious animes are not for everyone and everyday.
Best wishes :P

It kind of depends on what kind of girl she is too. Is she a really girly girl who would only like the kiddy kind of cute anime like some of the stuff they show on the cartoon network during the day, or is she into stuff that has romance and violence and a story line like Inuyasha or is she into constant action with really cute guys and underlying sexual tension like Bleach?? Black cat is cool too. Check out what kind of movies she likes and go from there. If it is mostly comedy then pick a comedy anime-if it is chick flicks then pick something that is mostly romance--I am not sure of names because I am into action and horror only--but you can find one.

I think a lot of girls but not all prefer romance and school. I don't know titles of this kind so may be can i suggest you to start with onegai teacher & twins or may be better with Tsubasa Chronicles or Mai Hime & Otome.
It's hard guessing a good strart without knowing the taste of the person.
Hope it helps.
Try finding out what she likes to watch that's non-anime. There's usually an anime that matches a particular genre of most TV shows or movies... unless of course she's into reality shows... then I can't suggest anything. You'll have to dig deeper...

*nosebleeds* Woah not so fast! Sensitive Pornograph would scare the bageezus out of someone that hasn't watched anime before even if they were proactive. o.0 Start with Shounen-Ai before jumping to Yaoi lol. Eh but youre better off showing her something with STRAIGHT bishies first such as the ones mentioned above like Fruits Basket, Prince of Tennis (to show how real life COULD be exciting if it were anime based), Trinity Blood (Because who doesnt love gorgeous vampires?) Tsubasa Chronicle or Cardcaptors (Girl Power?), or .//Hack for good animations, cute characters and a storyline/imagination that differs from live action movies.

I think its been said but Fruits Basket would be good. Or Love Hina. maybe even Tenchi?
But I would just walk into whereever you buy your anime (or if you buy it online, just walk into the store that you would buy from if the internet didn't exist) and pick the first anime you look at and think "gayyyy, i'd never watch this, its to girly/not-manly-enough" and then go buy it online or w/e.
Then just watch it with her. I'm sure you can figure out how to do that,

Hmm. Kind of like suggested before.. try to figure out what type of person or what she's into.. That would help out a lot because.. there's an anime for everything really.
I had this problem with a friend of mine too. She was like.. "I hate anime. It's stupid. I'll never watch it." .. but, Most times I stayed at her house, I demanded that I watch FMA. I don't really know how exactly.. but she started to watch it and loved it. Which, I'm really suprised.. because she doesn't like too much violence.
Now she's watching Inuyasha. lol. I'm so good.
I do agree with the already suggested.. if she's into cutsy stuff.. Fruits Basket, Love Hina, or even Chobits. If she likes pretty things that have a decent story.. Then have her crack at Tsubasa RC. I'd even suggest Full Metal Panic and FUMOFFU .. I'll suggest Ouron High School Host Club.. I haven't seen or read it yet, but I heard that's pretty good.
When I suggest a non-anime fan to watch something, I tend to start them off with something with a "normal" story.. something like NANA or Gravitation, if you don't mind the gayness. I'm quoting normal 'cause.. well.. it is kind of hard to find an anime with a straight normal story.
You can go to ANN and search up some of the titles we give you for summaries and stuff. But, you know us at [ap] try to help out the crowd and give decent suggestions.

Lol yes, showing her something full of bishies might help=P
I once read that if you wanted to make a girl like anime, all you had to do was buy her a poster or something of Kamui from X. Hehe but that was a long time ago.
I think you should just find out what kinds of shows or movies that she likes first. I suggest Tsubasa Chronicles. It's by Clamp, who doesn't love them? (Don't answer that) It's categorized as Shounen, but there's also the undying love of Syaoran thrown in the mix. It's also got a great storyline that isn't typical of animes and a large mix of characters.
It fufils the action, romance, comedy and cuteness factor, I definately reccomend this one.
DNAngel might add to the bishie factor. Dark is a hot bishie=) Story's good too.
Fruits basket is pretty good, but I think that the manga is much better, so I wouldn't really reccomend the anime.
You could also try Ouran High Host Club. It's funny, and even though it has a stereotypical storyline, it works. The mains are all bishies as well, although their bishie-ness is more apparent in the manga.
If you want to try manga, then I think that you should definately try The Wallflower (aka Perfect Girl Evolution, aka Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge). The guys are gorgeous, the story's really funny... It's the best manga out there^-^
You shouldn't push this on her, just take it slow. If she doesn't like something, try a different thing. I'd definately go with the bishie thing though. Good luck=)
