DoA Kasumi Wallpaper!
Hey everyone,
Im here working on my second wall starring "Kasumi" from the Dead or alive series. So far I have a picture of her sitting and holding her legs close...a little ecchi ^_^;. I extracted, cleaned and retouched the image and have placed it on to my wallpaper canvas. Nothing else has been done, and the light blue background is just a color, not the background. The idea i have for this is her sitting inside of a japanese style dojo with the The Koku An's (just a reference pic) snowy outside as the background.
The biggest problem right now is her feet... As you can see here (Kasumi Wallpaper ver.01) the original picture I had, didn't have her feet, the top part of her ponytail, and all that extra wood collum. I did the best I could to add the ponytail and wood collum. But I dont know what to do about her feet!! Thats where i need some help on how to fix that. It would be to hard for me to try to construct the feet, im not that good. ...hmmm...
Any help?
Thanks

Is really nice so far...the only problem are some pixelated areas on the ponytail...
the wooden column looks nice....
the only idea i could give you to solve the feet problem, is to just put the girl on the other side of the wall...
she can still be with her back on the wooden column (the wooden column should be on the middle of the wall in that case =P) and on the right side of the wall some japanese gardens on the bg, something like the screenshot you posted, but looking from the inside of the dojo, to the outside......
in some way it would give a different feel to the wall....
good luck!

So... kinda like this Kasumi Wall ver.0.2
It kinda cuts of the space for the snowy background, but it solves the feet problem.
Hmmm... what do you guys think now?

I think it is a great idea but is she leaning up against the door or what. If she is leaning up against the door she may need to be rotated a little, a snowy background would look good with this scan IMO.
It doesn't look to me like she was leaning up against anything in the original artwork. Here's what you could do. Since you are probably going to use a snowy background, why don't you try to add a texture to her skin that makes it look like she has goose bumps. Then it might be like someone just opened the door and that's the reason she pulled her legs up close.
Looking good so far :)

It's definitely showing progress. I love the shot of Kasumi you picked for this one, so I'm curious to see how it'll all turn out.
YEah is she leaning on sumthign cause I Dont see it. Texturing is a must here so add texture. I see its not really done yet, so I cant really make any suggestions. So come back with an update! Good luck!
Update: Fliped horizontal
Kasumi Wall ver.0.22flipped I havent done anything else. Im just trying to get the layout right.
Ok, where can I find good textures? Textures for wood and the door material/design .
Does it look like her side is leaning against the door? Or is her back leaning against the wood collum behind her? How could I fix that problem?? Put more wood.

There's another problem in that Kasumi's back has a sudden cut-off line too. You might want to try and cover that up with a column or something like that in the foreground. That's the only thing I can think of.
Ok, I fixed the cut off line at her back (ill touch it up later) and put the door into perspective, now she looks like she is leaning up against the wall... does it? or do i need change the angle a little bit more? What else loos weird on it?
I still need wood textures, where can I find some of those??

Well, it is moving ahead quite good, I´d say. Try to work on sthing with bg, so you should continue it after the doors are completed.
For textures try Google, or deviantart.

I know Fireworks comes equipped with a wood pattern as part of it's default settings, so I'm not sure where you could find them for another program.
Ok, Update here. I added some textures to the door. The wood grid I texturized the best I could, but it all went flat when changed the perpective angle. Ill fix that later... And I aslo added texture to the tan door background.
So how's it look now? Any problems? The only problem I see right now is the Flat textures on the door. Ill make them 3D now.
Im going to try and make the floor board shiny and relfect a little of the door (cuz those japanese floors are so shiny! lol)
Here it is:

You're definitely on a roll now. All you really need now is the background.
Looks fine to me. I don't see anything wrong with it. All you need now is to finish the bg. :)
Good luck!

bye bro!
