First of all, just like to emphasise that this is a really good first attempt. Don't be discouraged by this because it does look inherently good. However it can be improved.
For a start its a little too bright for my liking. If you could tone down the brightness a bit and let those lovely curves in the background show up a bit more.
The brightness of the whites and blues also kind of conflicts with the text too. The text itself is good but it has to compete with bright whites and blues here so you can't really see it properly. If you toned down the brightness you wouldn't have this issue.
On the whole though a really, really good start.

• Completely agree with Prestwick. You have to do something about the brightness of your entire wallpaper (both BG and scan). Don’t forget to add your signature!

Ok, improved version, not so bright. Thanks for the comments. I was seem to have a problem with making my graphics too bright. xD;

Excellent! We're getting somehwere!
It looks so much better now, the curves are exposed and makes the background look so much busier without taking the attention away from the main protagonists!
For the text I reccomend you move "Kaoru & Hikaru" to the top left hand corner of the main text. I don't know if anyone will agree with me but you'll be able to see it alot better that way.

I really like the second one and can I say..for your first time...Impressive! ^_^ lol...*sighs*...mine is not even that good...oh wells...^_^..great job!
