This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

Some of the more emotional anime I can think of are:

Kanon - 10, 11, 12 were all pretty depressing IMO.
SPOILER (click to view)

Now and Then, Here and There - very depressing but well done show, one of the best

Grave of the Fireflies - Most depressing movie ever

I think i got to say full metal alchemist and Air TV most definitly. gah~ i love fma, there are so many parts where it's just so sad (but i think i teared up when the guy with glasses and always shows a picture of his daughter dies <-- sorry forgot his name)!! air tv is cute and sad nyahaha~ let's see minagi and michiru's final moments together, kanna and her mom, kanna being shot by arrows, misuzu's illness and her final moments with haruko.

so-so is naruto (when haku dies, when sakura tries to be strong but instead just watches naruto and sasuke's backs, and gaara when he was a child) other than that i am immune to any further emotion from naruto.

I think air is the most tear-jerking show / movie. The story is just so beautiful yet so sad but I love the show anyways because it is yet a wonderful and beautiful story

Most certainly many parts of FMA, the odd moment in Fruits Basket but one of the ones that got to me most was Now and Then, Here and There. That was downright depressing.

I would say the anime that really tugged on my heart-strings were:

1. Fullmetal Alchemist - the episode were hughes dies and is burried and the last episode. There are also plenty other scenes that are very moving.
2. Kenshin (Reminiscence OVA)
3. Naruto - A couple of scenes, especially the one where he fights Haku.
4. Gungrave - The last couple episodes.
5. Saikano - For obvious reasons.

There are plenty more, but these are the ones that first comes to mind

Air TV really got me...especially episode 11 during the beach scene, when Aozora started playing in the background I couldn't hold the tears back any longer. One of the most moving scenes in an anime that I've seen.

There's a lot of crappily ended series out there... the ending for the 1st season of berserk was horrid, and wolfs rain.. i dont even need to say what happens with all the characters in these series..

I'd say AIR TV would have been number one for me, Saikano following by a close second. I'm sure you know the reasons why.
