This has been talked in web-groups alot so I decided to brought here as well, though its mostly under if Sasuke was Lazy or Determined to seek power for his revenge from Orochimaru.
So the deal is this, was his choice to ally with Orochimaru ,to get power to avenge his family right or wrong?

I think it was definately wrong because he should know orochimaru better and that in the end orochimaru is just tricking him.

It all depends on the point of view. For Sasuke, his ambitions is everything to him. He made the right choice to go to Orochimaru for power. For Naruto, he wants to kick Sasuke's butt for making such a bad choice

I think it was right. More bad guys and I like bad guys.

Well take in to consideration that Sasuke is a compleate idiot and that all decisions that he takes are going to be stupid ones... so yes you could say that sasuke's decision was wrong. But all you naruf@%$ theres no need to worry naruto is going to kick sasukes ass at the end and bring sasuke back, how do I know, because its a freaking shounen manga, and that allways happens.

It would be stupidd if he cameback as a good guy because Naruto kicked his ass though.

A friend of mine has read the manga till the latest chapter and i think that Sasuke kicks Naruto's ass!
And at their battle in Valley of the End if a remember correctly the one unconscious was Naruto.
Though i believe that he held back so that Sasuke wouldn't end up like he did (injured and unconscious) 'cos either he have comprehend it or not 'cos of 9-tails he has an amazing recover ability.
And yes Sasuke is a BAKA for going with Orochimaru to seek power even if the reason can be understandable. What he convinienlty forgets and shuts his eyes to is what willl happen after if he succesfully get his revenge for his clan. He thinks that everything will be OK and that he will be forgiven and what he have done will be forgotten? Isn't he just a selfish brat?

I think that question can be taken both ways. Sasuke has his reasons and, actually, I feel sorry for him. He's had it pretty rough since childhood, and then right when things are finally going better for him, Orochimaru comes along and puts that stupid curse on him.

Personally, though, I think that he was wrong. Sasuke is too absorbed in killing his brother; he's lost sight of his main goal. I believe that what Sasuke wants is not to kill his brother, but to return to how things were before his brother became evil; I also think that Sasuke's ultimate goal is not to have the power to kill his older brother, but to have power so that he can protect the people closest to him. Even if he was wrong, I don't think that he's become evil. One sign that he may still be a "good guy" is when he spared Naruto's life at the Valley of the End even when killing Naruto would have strengthened his Sharingan eye.

I know that its stupid, but belive me its going to happend. There are a lot of things that have happend in naruto that its stupid but they happend any way, remember Naruto is not the moust original manga out there.

This could be true but I think that when it comes down to it, Sasuke will have to make the decision for himself (surely though, not until Naruto does smack him around) Problem is that Sasuke:

A. Doesn't know any better, he'd only known independance and lonilness (I guess he still couldn't been a good kid and learned how to make friends and live a happy life, maybe...althought that happened was really rough.

B. He's...bascially selfish. He's only looking to make himself better for his own selfish reasons (even though it wouldn't be bad if someone did knock Itachi off the list of highly-skilled threats to Konoha).

Overall...eh, I think he couldn't have made a different choice due to his given personality (Besdies the facts that he can't really make decisions anyway, it's the mangaka who decises it all but we won't go there.)Then the question comes to who's point of view are we taking it from.

Sasuke's: Of course it was a brilliant choice, he'll get super strong and learn a ton of new stuff which will help his emotionally-affected image (It is so hard not to use the term "emo")

Konoha/Naruto's: It was a terrible choice and he's just going to be used and abused, he'll get what's coming to him and probably realize it to late, if he even cares.

Sasuke is simply driven by ONE GOAL, and that one goal alone, as the anime and manga like to portray - revenge for his family's death by killing Itachi - hence the title as the avenger.

If you really think of it that way, Sasuke's decision to go to Orochimaru was a no-brainer. Once he saw how strong Naruto was becoming and closer to him in power despite the training Sasuke's was doing, his resolve on doing it on his own broke and he went to the glorified promise of power.

Wrong becuase sasuke will get stronger if he had stayed in konoha. plus orochimaru isnt too strong, naruto almost creamed him.

no reason to turn his back on everything he believed in, what would his parents say? he would just be satisfying Itachi's goal for sasuke...thats why Itachi let sasuke live. sasuke is an idiot to become a missing-nin, especially to apprentice under orochimaru.

I Think If He Decided To Join Orochimaru It Was A Good Choice If I Were Him I Would Go To Orochimaru To Or Maybe Train A Little More Then If Naruto Beats Me Again I Will Have Gone To Orochimaru Place And Beside He Got Better Power When He Got There He Can Do Chidori Leak Out Of His Body
And If He Stayed What Would Happen? He Got Beat Up By Naruto And By Itachi What Else? That Mean For Him That He Can Lose To Anyone Even Konohamaru... So I Really Think It Was A Choice Of Fate For Him... He Chose The Bad Path I Guess..

No its right for sasuke to look for power, Kakashi wasnt teaching him stronger skills he needed more strength and naruto's teacher was a freakn legendary Sanin how is it fair he gets that teacher and sasuke gets just a high end ninja? the sanin would batter kakashi in a fight, its not fair sasuke tries to get power from kakashi and the fact naruto was getting stronger than sasuke quicker made sasuke thirst for greater power, the power of orochimaru, naruto has no real reason for getting strong he just wants to be the village chief and strongest ninja in the villiage yea thats really a reason to attain power, but sasuke has reason to get revenge for his parents killer, and his own brother too, hes on a mission to get stronger to kill him so then he can complete his lifes mission he only lives to get revenge an avenger hmm sounds like a superhero lol

well id say then hes right to seek greater power no matter what the cost, put yourself in his shoes would you want to live life knowing your parents killer got away with murder? if it was me naruto got it easy id rather not have parents or rather not know them than to know your parents for long time then just powerless to see them die right in front of you, the pain of loss is greater than the pain of being alone, technically naruto had teachers to cuddle him so he wasnt really alone, sasuke had parents then they died, yep im so totally agreeying with that rather not know my parents than to see them die ;)

Joining Oro to get stronger?? So damn right, the only decision he shouldn't take is to try to face itachi because he'll beat the crap out of him and even Oro if he try to mess the things up with Itachi
