samurai or modern soldier?
Please talk on [color=green]why you would want to be a soldier or samurai (or something else) and don't just put something like "i wanna be a samurai" [/color]
Hey in todays modern era of a vast amount of technology and rivalry between countries increasing, what would you want to be? A Samurai or a Soldier??
I think a samurai would be classified more as a bodyguard to high ranks instead of someone who would be sent out to destroy something like a soldier.
....whats that anime where there are samurais's and they fight against soldiers with guns??...Sorta like Samurai 7...ARGH can't think it!

Not sure about that colour (british spelling) story but id like to be both soldier and samurai, think about it a soldier with the battle ranging experiance and a samurai with a close high speed combat.

Although I would not mind living by the rather astrigent guidelines of a true samurai, I'm not interested in fighting for a living. Being a professional soldier (as opposed to someone who signs up to serve due to a war per se) is no different than being a prostitute. You are basically selling your body in a fashion that wears on it very severely. It is hard work with few material benefits. I'm not interested in killing or dying just because others think it is worth it.

I think a samuria is better cause they got cool moves! lol wait that's only in movies and shows, well i like them better cause they fight in honor and stuff like that. Soilders are o.k but they can be boring...nothing intresting. Just powerful weapons used by ppls who don't have speacil abbilites like samuria's.
No wait, soilders are cool too cause they do have powerful weapons which can kill a thousands samurai's in like a thousands shots by i sec. Has anybody watched the last samurai? At the end was sad. Weapons kicked ass though. i dunno. I like both.

I would prefer to be a modern soldier--i get an adrenaline rush when i shoot rifles, which i dont get when i swing a sword around

If presented with the two choices without alternative, I suppose I would pick the modern soldier. Looking at the weapon sets of the two classes, I suppose I have more interest in modern weaponry, though I admire the katana and wakizashi combo. (is that called a daisho?) I am a fan of the old Zatoichi movies which I own, and the anime that I love the most usually contain swordplay and bushido. But while I admire a '57 Chevy Bel Air, I would take a Nissan Skyline to the race any day of the week.
Well it depends though the better one is the modern soldier due to the fact that it's already in the modern period. but if you really ask me... i'd go with the samurai warrior cuz if you're a samurai warrior you don't depend on your technical stuff. therefore you have more skill than the modern soldier. the disadvantage of a samurai is that it's close combat so you have to go near to slash your enemy while a modern soldier is far so you cankill your enemy w/o getting seen. if a samurai with a lot of skill and a modern soldier with all those tachnical stuff but no skill fight of the match would be a tie... oh well it's stick with the samurai warrior.
Well, considering Snake would kill a poor samurai with his 1337 skills, I would pick badass soldier.

I think if you were both you'd be uber supreme..long range killing with a close range combat assassination...
...imagine running up onto a barrage of enemies firing your nighthawk or 5/7 (they are my fav guns) and then once up close just throw your gun down and pull out your katana and start slahing people with such unique precision and ba;et showing skills!

bootiful weapon indeed..its sleek and can be styled (the handle) yet it can be devastatingly powerful (cuts through steel blah blah blah)

SAMURAI SAMURAI! xD I'm watching that reeeeeeeaaaaallly old samurai series "Kozure Okami" on TV here in germany! xD (on friday night 2:00 xD ) thats really... somehow... COOL! xD and that cute little brat whos always with the "black wolf"(?) ... hihi...^__^; But mostly I'm not seeing more than a half hour of it, because the sleep is always catching me right in the middle... ;___; *snif* I'm silly... ~__~;
