Avatar problems

Ok, I have been a member of AP for a long time. I may not be really active in the forums, but I do check the site out every day. Lately, I have been having a really hard time uploading avatars... 15kb is a really small size...nothing I upload works and it's really starting to irritate me.. I go in Photoshop and reduce the file quality, but nothing works. I'm a little picky and I like my avatar to match my signature (which is not the case right now by the way) so please, tell me what to do, or if there is a gentle soul that would convert an image into an avatar for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
99x99px with less than 15kb never fail
and dont forget to clear your cache ( how to)

I'm personally using a 24bit 100x100 pixel PNG (which are high quality/lossless settings at the full allowed size) and it weighs in at only 8KB. Given the nature of the format, I can't see how it is even remotely restrictive to have a limit at at 15KB for these images. Learn to optimise your images.
Picoodle can convert them.
http://picoodle.com/
use option resize, pick [100x75 avatar]
and no, imageshack cant do this thing :D
original
after resize:avatar

imageshack, 100x100 (29.66kb)

picoodle, 100x100 (9.34kb)
save and upload it on AP :D
please mind that .png might not works.

Do what Danalm said.I also do that in these sort of cases.I also change my format sometime. If its jpg try png and if its png try jpg sometime it reduces the size sometimes it makes it even more ;D
But if you decrease its size to 99 x 99 it should do the job and even still if it refuses keep reducing 1 px from both side and keep checking.

My avatars are arround 5-10 kb. Changing the format can reduce the size rapidly.
I use XnView for it - quality setting 85 is enough for a 100x100 pic. From jpg to gif and back to jpg, this method also never fails :P

Yes. All the tricks are great thanks but jigoku-shonen's trick worked the best. I never heard of that website before, I'll be sure to add it to my favorites! Thanks everyone, that was a big help :D
