Which Career Path would you Follow?

Here is the big question we all encounter in our life and need to make an important decision. "What kind of job do I want to pursue as a career?"
Are we aiming for a job we love which tends to make less money since its going to be something YOU enjoy doing personally or put are entire focus into the "Money Maker" which is an IDEAL career path that your parents want you to do or because you want to Since it will keep you Nice and RICH, It is something you truly have no passion for whatsoever.
For example, I want to become a police officer with an estimated pay of $50 thousand a year to be hated by the people, get physically and mentally abused, and have your life on the line on a daily basis. Parents wanted me to become a lawyer which is self-explanatory in all ways which equals Money, but its not something I personally want to focus on.
What about you guys? What do you think?

I'd like to think that i'll pick a job that I like with a decent pay over a job that I wouldn't enjoy no matter how well it paid. But that's the young me... maybe when I'm a bit older with people to support i'll think about taking a job that paid better.
Wanna work at EA coze it's fun, I think a fun factor is important part when looking for a job for various reasons.
Well I've kinda gone through the same thing. My parent's wanted me to become a chemical engineer and I wanted to become an archaeologist. I ended up getting my bachelor's in ChemE. But it's one of those things that when you don't feel it in your heart, you shouldn't do it. I'm going back to school for archaeology and couldn't be happier!
Do what you love... that's my best advice.

Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. I would definitely choose something close to my heart no matter what people thought about it. Parents always want your best, so they just select the best carrier they think is the best for you, my parents for instance want me to become a doctor and I suppose you all know the reason.
We are prone to judge success by the index of our salaries or the size of our automobile rather than by the quality of our service and relationship to mankind. I don't claim that being poor is a good thing, but don't think that you will become happy with money. I have many friends that think exactly in the same way, they want to become doctors and masters of engineering just because they earn so much money. Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful!
I have had teachers who were happy and satisfied with their job while I constantly read the news and find out every abnormal and crazy thing the hollywood stars do every day and still aren't happy with their lives. The first thing I think about when it comes to my carrier is to choose something I know I truly love, then I think about all pros and cons and eventually about money.

Choosing a career is an involved process that is based on a number of things, including your interests, skills, work-related values, and personality. You might want to meet with a career development professional, i.e. career counselor or career development facilitator. A career development professional will use various tools to help you evaluate your interests, personality, skills, and values. This is called a self assessment. He or she will then show you how all these things, combined, play a role in choosing a career.
If finances are an issue, don't let that keep you from getting the help you need. Check with your public library since some offer career planning help. Also check with local colleges and universities. Most have career development offices which may offer services to members of the community. Programs that train career counselors often have students work with members of the community in order to gain experience. There are self assessment tools you can use on your own. Many are available online.
What you should end up with is a list of suitable careers based on your self assessment. Obviously you can't do everything on your list, nor will you want to. Here's where you need to do some research. You should begin to gather information about these careers which will include a job description, outlook for the field (will you be able to find a job), and required training and education. When you have narrowed down your choices to just a few, then you should investigate even further, perhaps conducting some informational interviews with those working in the field. You can now make an educated decision about what career to pursue.

I plan on following something that I would love to do, Life's a bit too short to get too caught up in the wealth, But most of the time people incorporate money into something they " want " to do, so that it's easier to choose between what you'd like to do and what you'd love to do.
I'm in the army, so its pretty obivous which choice i made...
neither... lol.
nah, i like my job. if it wasnt for deployments, i would love it.

I'd have to go with having a job I like doing. Money is cool and all, but I wanna be able to get up in the morning and be like, "Yes, time for work!" rather than "No, no, no, no, no. Not again." Besides I get too easily bored with doing school work, now. I cant imagine having a job where I do something just to make money.

I'm mainly choosing...yes, choosing a path based on my father. He took CADD, and I'm doing the same, but I'm mainly taking CADD to get into Marine Engineering (CADD is a requirement). I think this would probably land me a shipyard type job (repairing or designing ships) though I'm leaning on the military side of this. The thing I hope for is that the job I get in the future is a good, well paying one at that, and something I'd like.
I am pursuing a career in filmmaking. I am an editor/cinematographer and I LOVE doing it!! It pays really well and I love that. I can get paid really well for something I love to do.
I've always wanted to be a teacher. I'd be only making like 30k, and probably get a lot of verbal abuse from students and parents, but, I think it'd be a fun job to do.
Not to mention summers and national holidays off...

It is possible for a job you love to be one that will make you wealthy, it just depends how talented you are and where your love is for. I would personally go for the job i love no matter what because I know that money won't get me what I want, but thats just me.
Pick the job you enjoy >:] and when you get sick of it go get stinking rich off the other one

bye bro!
