Whats the most popular anime in the world?!?
Hey,
Ive been wondering what the most popular anime in the world is right now.
Are there any official statistics or anything? Any guesses?
I dont know, and me and my friends have been arguing about this all week!
Well, in japan i know Bleach and Naruto are at the top of the list. But since Bleach doesnt air in the U.S. but Naruto does...does that mean Naruto is more popular. If bleach was in the U.S., it would pwn all those other anime shows...("my personal opinion" ^_^). I was checking the wallpaper section here and Bleach has over 200 wallpaper, and naruto only had 100something. Is that because bleach wallpapers are easier to make? or because people love bleach soo much. I aslo checked google on anime results. "Bleach Anime" = 3,500,000 approx, and "Naruto Anime"= 1,900,000. "Cowboy Bebop Anime" got 4,000,000... but im concentrating on the currently playing anime. (though cowboy bebop was awsome when it aired, and still is)
Pokemon is pretty popular too. Everyone who knows about anime knows about pokemon. You dont have to like it, but its still out there.

Well, I think Bleach....mind you it may end soon once another anime comes out and is some how better then Bleach

If you're talking about whats currently on air in Japan thats popular in many countries, I'd say Naruto only because it hit the U.S market last year and has been popular in Canada and Europe also for some time. Bleach hasn't been licensed yet ( or did Viz license it? ).
I would think Bleach is more popular in Japan like what you were saying. Hands down I think it overtook Naruto when Naruto was starting its filler arc I'm sure most people stopped watching it after the first filler mission. I know I did.

The last two conventions I went too.. almost.. EVERYONE.. dressed up from someone from either two of those. I like Bleach.. I can't stand Naruto.

Hmm... I'd have to say Bleach and Naruto as well. Those two anime series are so mainstream here where I live. It's everywhere I go- Bleach, Bleach, Bleach, Naruto, Naruto, Naruto, random Sasuke fangirl...

As far as currently airing shows go, I'm voting for Naruto. It is on TV and its product line it sold everywhere. However, I think it is likely to be over-taken by Bleach or another show in the near future. Its fan-base is shrinking due to the filler situation. That is just as far as popularity goes though. In the well-known category, I think Cowboy Bebop or Kenshin or Gundum would do better.

I believed it has to be fullmetal alchemist. it seem to have popularity in both the us and japan. How much popularity well that is a really hard to tell.
