Well, I really want to be humble, but I can't help to be curious about something I've been wondering all along. Basically, I've found through observation that the majority of people are only talented in one area (for ex. sports, art, math...etc.). When I mean talented, I mean that you are already outstanding in that area before you received any training or real practice. I must say I'm not fantastic in either math, art, or sports, but I can say I surpass most people in those areas. That really made me think who else is 'all-rounded', so far, I've only encountered one person who is able in those areas. Don't be mistaken, I'm not extremely bright (with only a mere IQ of 124 plus or minus 3), but I just want to bring this to discussion since this place seems appropriate for that....
I think I sound cocky, but this is really just to open a discussion which I have been longing to discuss.

I think the only area where I truly shine is language studies. I think with enough motivation, I can probably master a language in a relatively short amount of time. Something about langauges that just makes sense to me.
I also do well in dance. I received very little training in dancing (swing and shag) but somehow I have natural rhythem.
When it comes to academics, I'm above average at best. Most of it comes from book smarts and my ability to learn things rather quickly. However, that also depends on my ability for making things click. I mean, I'm alright when it comes to mathematics, science, and computer science, but I don't excel at them. I'm just GOOD at them. =/
Everybody has their own aptitude. Too bad there aren't too many tests that tell you what it is you're good at. Not like you really need one to tell you what you're good at. Another thing is that, what if you're good at something but you don't necessarily enjoy it?

Now that you mentioned languages...that's really interesting, I've never thought of linguistics... I'm sure most people here speak more than two languages, so I never bothered. lol...my best performance of languages is Chinglish XD

being a lazy-bum, i'm not that flash at sports that require lots of movement. but i used to do softball and this year, i did rifle shooting (and i found out that i'm not too shabby at all! xD). unlike eso, euna ish useless at dancing >___<

LOL Cocky huh? Well i'm the most arrogant guy around here (if thats a talent LOL)...
Well i have to say that i am one of the best drawing artists of my generation in my country so...
I also write poems (started one week ago) i wrote my first poem and it was awsome due english is not my native language...
I think i have talent in sports but not sure coz i dont play much (or at all) but when i do i can play basketball really good who knows what would i do if i actually train the damn thing LOL ^^
I am a fast learner (computers and languages)...

drawing! lol.. been drawing little doodles, stickfigures, anime, etc ever since i could hold a pencil :P so definately art.. (just now starting to delve into photshop drawing.. and so far i'm catching on pretty quick :P)

There is a Primary Years Program for young students, a Middle Years Program for middle school students, and a Diploma Program for high school students. In the latter program, when you successfully complete several special and very challenging courses you are awarded an IB Diploma.

I don't think I have any sort of talent. Or if it can be considered as a "talent", then I'd say it's my ability to analize something, study it and assimilate it with ease. This applies to all possible disciplines and things. I did well at high school and I'm still doing quite well now at university (though you CAN'T go on with just talent here, trust me. You really need to put effort). As for sports I don't know... I've played soccer and I was fairly good, basketball as well and I hadn't difficulties learning karate and now I'm into archery and I am getting the hang of it after like 3 lessons only.
There's one thing that amazed me though, but it's not a talent as well, I'd say it's because of the power of today's technology and software. I never used to be really good at art at school, because teachers always said "well you can only excel if you are talented at it" so I was like "uh then it's not worth it to give this subject a try" hence I was always bored of it and never tried or put effort to see if I was able to produce something, resulting in poor grades. Ironically though, since I've started making wallpapers 7 months ago it's feeling kind of weird how I "changed" from a person who was totally bored of art to a person who even dares to draw stuff on a computer lol. I'm like the total opposite now. o_O;

Heck, I'm jealous of all of you. I wish I could be great at cooking. I'm only average to above average when it comes to cooking. I actually took a Culinary Arts class back in high school. It only helped me learn how to follow recipes [/sarcasm]
Still, people think my cooking is good and that's fine and all. I still would like to be an extraordinary cook though. After all, my dad is a chef. Mmmm People say I have some talent in "stuff" but my pessimistic side tells me im a useless bum that will only specialize in fertilizing trees after I die. (My goal is for 2 trees..) Anyways when Im not thinking like that, I think that the only thing I truely excel in that a majority of people I know agree on is my writing skills. No I didnt get a perfect score on my SAT for the English portion, or heck get any awards for it, but Ive written "stuff" (Stories, poetry, essays that were supposed to be about what we're good at but I ended up changing into why humans smell or something) that have entertained people.. Im told I have a talent in absorbing readers into my silly little creations just by reading the first few sentences. So there.. now about the tree fertilizing....

Hmm, I'm envious at the moment. From where I came and to where I will go, I am and won't be as fortunate as all of you. :P I was lucky enough to live a half-decent, modest life where I am not in a state of deathly poverty, but not in a state of heavenly riches either. Although I am quite fortunate on this one, I wasn't fortunate enough to be birthed with any sort of particular talent, I always thought I was good at drawing as a kid, but realized these days that my drawing "skills" are mediocre compared to just about everybody else's in the world.
I've come to find out that I don't have a strong expertise in any sort of field, but rather I tend to learn fast and get really good at any field, art, or hobby that I decide to embed into my life. I guess you could say I'm an "all-arounder", but I lament to say that I can be really good at everything, but always the best at nothing.

Alot of people tell me that I have a natural talent for alot of things. One is music. Though I don't prticularly like it, my music teacher told me that I learned to play the piano alot faster than the average person. She wanted me to become a musician, but that wasn't for me. Also apparently I'm talented when it comes to math too, probably why I'm good at music.

Yeah, sometimes I think that if I would only focus my energy on one or two things I'd be able to excel at those things ... but I just can't do that. I'm interested in everything. I'd get bored trying to be the greatest this or the best that. I think I'd rather be really good at a lot of different things.
