This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

I have a question on something that has been mentioned quite often, when was the last time you actually saw a geek being beaten up or abused? physically that is.. I can honestly say ( in my senior year of high school) that even with the number of schools ive been to (4 schools since 7th grade) I have actually never seen a single geek being beaten up! mabye I was just oblivious, but being one of those geeks, I think I would have noticed...

I think greeks are like those that listen to the teachers and obey the laws too much, probably that's why they stay out of trouble, hence no geek gang.

XD!!

In a way, there are geek gangs. There are three main groups: Windows users, Mac users, and Linux users. Each gang generally sticks together, insulting opposing gangs with taunts of "stupd n00b!" and "l4mer!"

Nothing else to add here, I'm just gonna sit back and watch.

Nosocomial infection
- not present or incubating on admission
- infection temporally associated with the admission to a health care facility (hospitals, old folks home)
- an infection incubating at the time of admission related to previous hospitalization at the same facility (focus in hospital is to prevent Nosocomial infection)

Community acquired infection
- present on admission
- incubating at time on infection
- Nosocomial infection can cause illnesses or death etc.
- Nosocomial infections are a big problem which may get worse!
- Newer instruments to find it (offer challenges to treating; ex is heating to sterilize equipment since surface may not be heat resistant), sicker patients, aids; stretching resources, new resistant organisms (MRSA), new infectious diseases
- (E.Coli β?? the infectious strain, Clostridium Difficile).
- SWI (surgical wound infection), ICP (infection control person)

Infection Control Activities
- monitor Nosocomial infections (surveillance)
- product evaluation
- Architectural plan review (looking at blueprints), examination of the air intake.
- Antibiotic usage review
- In-service education
- Recommend modification of practices (result of observations of problems)

Infection control requires knowledge of:
- Epidemiology
- Statistics
- Microbiology
- Infectious diseases
- Sterilization, disinfection and sanitation
- Patient care practices
- Education
- Communication
PG.14
- Causative Agent ο?  biological or physical entity capable of causing disease.
- Characteristics that allow diseases to occur;ο? invasiveness, pathogenicity, virulence, infectious dose, viability in the environment, host specificity, antigenic variation, ability to develop resistance.
- Institutional Reservoirsο?  patients/residents/children.
- Health care personnel
- Health care equipment and environment (could be mode of transmission).

- Human Reservoirs
- Cases> Acute clinical cases, Subclinical (asymptotic) cases.
- Carriers> Convalescent carriers (feeling better but symptoms visible, still can be shedding disease), chronic carriers (long period of time carrying disease), intermittent carriers (on and off disease, there and then itβ??s not there).
- incubatory stage or Subclinical (not knowing your carrying the disease, since no symptoms are visible)
- Portal of Exit
- Path by which an infectious agent leaves the reservoir.
- Human portal of exit: respiratory tract, genitourinary tract, GI tract.
- Modes of Transmission
- Airborne Particles/droplets
- Vehicle: contaminated foods, water, or other
- Vector borne: Insects

^^ What the heck was that?

Anyways, you people have some discrimination against geeks. Seems to me that you all have this notion that geeks are vulnerable and are unable to fend for themselves. But then again, it's only a label and labels can always change. I suppose if you take that definition, then yes, there would be no geeks. Then what label would you use to describe the smart ones who CAN defend themselves? How about the ones who are smart and aren't always law-abiding citizens? Would they come together to make a gang?

Geek gangs fight wars on computer games. That's where they can always win.

I'm not sure what you mean by gangs. Do you mean gangs as in criminal or gangs as in a community of friends? I would say that there are loads of geek gangs of the latter definition. For example, millions of geeks use Linux and most of them want to help eachother. They post to forums asking and answering advice.

I think most geeks would rather take their harrasment quietly, and then get into a top college, make a ton of money, and rub it in the face of their past harrasers who are currently making below minimum wage at a godawful job.

But a geek gang would be very, very nice. I would definatly join. It would completley revolutionize our soceity with stirring mottos like "Brains over brawn!" "The pen is mighter than the sword!" "Mind over muscle!" and "Geeks unite! Take back the night!"

I think geeks DO form gangs . . . Special Interest Groups! They take over the world and funnel money out of the government instead of bullying people and selling crack or whatever.

I think a Geek gang is a group that distributed warez on AOL and other online services and they punk other people. it used to happen a lot back in the days. stupid pirating groups fighting one another to spread warez w/in a day and what not. how do i know this? i used to be in one for the free dialup internet before broadband became popular

People create gangs for protection. The reason there can't be Geek Gangs is because geeks can't protect themselves physically. Have you ever heard of two gangs go against each by freezing each other's bank accounts? I don't think so. But you do hear gangs go against each other with knives and sometimes guns. Geeks may be smart but out in 'the streets', they can easily get beat up by thugs. Besides, what are the chances a thug is going have a bank account much less care about having his account frozen? He'll beat up the geek anyway, not just by himself, but he'll call his thug friends to beat up that geek too and soon enough, that geek will be forced to unfreeze the thug's bank account. This is why we don't have Geek Gangs.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

A group of criminals or hoodlums who band together for mutual protection and profit.

hehehe i like that one

about that bank thing . . . would a thug even have a bank account?

anyone else keep hearing the media misuse the term "gangbang"?

hey, i may be considered a geek by alot of people, but give my any gun and i could use it; once you learn where the charging handle, safety/fire selector, takedown latch, magazine release, bolt catch (if applicable) is on one gun, they're easy to spot on other guns

Unless you bring in the rich kind of thugs into play, say for example someone like Tony Montana from Scarface, then it is possible (that is, if they conduct their maneuverings carefully).

As for the geeks being unable to defend themselves, I'm sort of apathetic. People would presume that I'm a geek but when the crap hits the fan it's an entirely different story.

Lol there are plenty.. the term gang just brings a negative connotation to it.. the definition you have is more like a modern application to the word.. because many people use it to identify delinquents and mobsters.. but i think gangs are just a group of people who get along.. back to question.. just go check your chess club Lol or your local library :P

It's a bit hard to put a label on people nowadays, don't you think? True there are some that fit your stereotypical "Geek", but most people are in the gray area, not really one way or another. Back in high school, I was a bit of every group, for the most part. I had friends in every group pretty much, but I could be considered 'geeky' as a whole, I suppose, if you consider people who like anime and video games geeks. Sometimes, it's the small quiet ones you have to watch out for. I've seen some kids being picked on that lash back with pretty bad results. If I am considered geeky however, being unable to physically defend myself is definitely not the case. I work out regularly, run, swim, etc. On top of that, I am a martial artist, trained in Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee's style for those of you who said "What the hell is that?" I suppose my point is that there aren't very many people around these days that fit definitively into one category or group of classification.
As far as geek hangs...I'd probably say the hackers. Or as they say "1337 h4ck3rz pwn3d j00!"
