Groups:Do you really join?
3 years 6 days ago
Have you ever noticed that some people will join a group but forget or not really care about it much days later and never visit again?
I've done that twice but it was because they never updated. I also don't try to join a lot of groups. Too many and I'll have some problems.
What do you do?

I have a group of my own myself, and i do feel that it is the case sometimes, but its not all to be blamed on the group i guess, if you think about it, there is only so much that you can do in terms of keeping a group alive. There is only so much questions you can ask if your group is related to your favourite anime, and there is also only so many answers you can get back in return.
No one ever said it'd be easy did they?

Well for me i try to go to all the groups that i join. Meaning why join a group if you know that you won't go to it in a few days. Thats what i think but other people have other ideas on why they join groups. I guess i do it for friends and just to have fun. thats all ^.^ well bye then Happy New Year.
For group activity, I would think that new members would inject new life into the club itself. And to attract those new members you would have some sort of gimmick, or activity to do. I admin something similar to this in another site and I've seen successes and failures equally. Most failures were due to lack of subject of interests or things to talk about. Managing one is pretty tough if you don't have active members that come back for more.
Well for me I have joined a group because there is a Filipino community here... so its good to see that there are a lot of Filipino members here in AP... although I don't know if there are activities or something like that...
Yeah i've realized that...but cuz they dont update or i dont really have time to visit them all...it really depends on what subject they are talking about...if i kno a subject then i would love to join in and chat about it..but if its something totally different where i don't know what they are talking about i'd rather keep quiet than just bombard them with questions. so yeah. for example i dont have a specific manga and they would talk about it and i don't know what they are talking about...it always makes me feel out of place cuz in hong kong there isnt much variety of manga's i can buy and read... =( so yeah
I don't really join the groups b/c yea they're very small... and considering the forum is so successful and "full" in allowing many different topics that i basically feel that it's more fufilling then the small groups... plus, i would definately tend to forget about it when it's certaintly not as structured as the rest of the site...
and with that in mind i do admire the ones who try to keep the groups alive b/c it certaintly must be a task to keep those people returnint :)

Never been part of any 'group' and, truth to tell; large majority of them does not have anything to offer what I wouldn't be able to find without registration/other hassle.
Groups are hard to stay in because if it's about one specific view on something, it's not like you are always going to view it that way. Like this, your favorite anime is Tsubasa Chronicles and you are so totally obsessed with it that you vision moments of the animation/manga everyday. But the here comes along an anime even better! You still like Tsubasa Chronicles but this new anime has you on a leash. That's where the point where people forget about the old and go with the new. There's my 2 cents.

Lol...i doesnt even know where to find those group.....i just know creating a group cost 250 papers onli....lol...wat a noob i am...
Well actuall people don't post any thing new cuz maybe they can't find an interesting topic. i have a lot of groups but i attend them everytime i log on but i only place comments if i can. but if i will still stay the same everytime i log on sooner or later i won't even go to that group again.
Well, I'm a n00b, so I can't really say that I "do" anything, but I can chip in on what my intentions are with a group. I'd like to see what the group members are like in the forum ("senpai" class excluded, since that is invite only for obvious reasons) and decide with whom I would like to associate with on a more regular basis. Kinda like picking a club in middle school. If I ever have the honor of being personally invited to a group, I would do my best to merit such a special nod. Otherwise, it would largely be a matter of focusing my attention in a different direction.
A group that was "dormant" would be a sad sight for me, as I would probably inadvertantly "spam" in an effort to save it.
