This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

TAtEkAnE: Thanks. I find your member title very amusing. Makes me think of Hannibal (whom I think is one of the most fascinating fictional characters ever.)Evol: What is your avatar and signature from, by the way? It looks like Blue Submarine to me...but I don't think that's it. :/

No you're correct^^ it is Blue Submarine No.6the artwork is from one of my idols, Range Murata:<a href='http://www.absolutetrouble.com/murata/' target='_blank'>http://www.absolutetrouble.com/murata/</a>hes best known for his "steam punk" style, and character design for Last Exile. his attention to detail makes me weep.I first saw this image in one of tat's walls, after that I had to gank the image <!--emo&:P--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I was right? Wow. Okay, well, it's definately beautiful artwork. I saw Blue Submarine No. 6 ages ago, but I somewhat remembered what the characters looked like. I just started watching Last Exile (I got the box + the first DVD for Christmas.) The artwork on the side of the box is really nice. The first four episodes were a little slow, but I've heard that its really good. I got some spending money so I'm thinking of picking up the rest of the series. But, is it worth buying the other six DVDs?

Here's another drawing of mine. I did it tonight and it took maybe an hour or so. It's not finished as you can tell from the hideous backround (if that's what you'd call it) but here's what I have so far. It's of Al from Last Exile. She's so cute, I couldn't help myself. But I'm afraid this drawing does her cuteness no justice. I want to try to draw Claus too when I get the chance.

Her left eye seems a bit off, but I think its very cute, you captured her emotion very well. I'd like to see it inked.

That's what I thought. I'll have to fix it later. Hm, well, if I did ink it what would be the best pen to use? I know that artists tend to use a specific kind to ink their artwork. Before I just tried to use a Sharpie pen, but that didn't really work. Guess I'll have to do some researching.

I tend to think art pens are a little overrated. just try to find a pen with a nice fine line that doesn't leak. then again I wouldn't be a good person to ask about inking ~_~;;if you're looking to ink your drawing in photoshop, you have alot more options as far as technique. here are a couple links: (there are alot more out there)<a href='http://www.apsylus.com/tutorials.shtml' target='_blank'>http://www.apsylus.com/tutorials.shtml</a><a href='http://www.fireyskye.net/prismatic/enlighten/paths/index.php' target='_blank'>http://www.fireyskye.net/prismatic/enlighten/paths/index.php</a>

I like pigment liners for inking, myself. I use Staedtler Mars liners, though I also use ZIG Memory System pens when I can't get the Staedtler ones (I usually get a couple of packs of them whenever I'm in Minneapolis, but they tend to run out quick if you use them a lot <!--emo&;)--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->). They produce smooth, completely black lines, dry very quickly, are water and fade-proof, and come in a bunch of sizes for detail and fill work. If you don't mind spending 7~10 bucks on a 4 or 5 pack of pens, I suggest checking them out. All of the people I've ever recommended them to loved them.
