Korean manhwa

Paradise Kiss is a manga made by Ai Yazawa, a popular japanese mangaka (you can read Nana in Shojo Beat, or download it, but of course, if you're in EEUU is better to buy it) and yes, her stories are just what a contemporary girl needs, not those sappy/fluffy sugar coated mangas full of flowers (girls, reality is harsh, so is love XD).
If you wanna read another manhwa, i recommend Shin Amen Osa (shin angyo onshi in japanese), the guys from hikaru no go translations ( http://hngotrans.net ) scanlated it (they're in the 5th book) and you can also find the movie in bit torrent (dont remember which group did it, sorry) which resumes in a bad way (personal opinion) the first two tankoubons, but has a bad ass animation.
then you have "under the glass moon"... i saw two tankoubons of it, i highly recommend it (the art can be extremely amazing). Then you have "soul to seoul" or something like that, which seems a good option too. Anywho, it depends of your age, and tastes, just go to a nice bookstore (like borders that has chairs XD) and read several titles, i'm sure you'll find lots and lots of good manhwa ^^
