This guy is one of the characters in a mini-manga series my friend and I are creating. ^^; The violin is sorta floating in mid-air right now, because I haven't had to time to add in his hand...

the key to drawing his hand on it is to make it look delicate and it shouldn't be resting on his wrist. unless you play the violin, cause if you do i'm sure you already knew that >.>

Yah, I played the violin for eight years, I would model my arm for you if I could xD

But Kal's right, make sure his wrist isn't touching the violin, or his music teacher will yell at him, hehe. The thumb is supposed to be straight, not curved like the rest of the fingers, and the arm has to be held away from the body, especially the elbow.

Just to add a little background information on the character...

This dude (I'm trying to decide on the name, but it will probably end up being Niels) is a professor of music at an academy in the story my friend and I are working on. Don't be carried away by his gentle expression because he's actually an antagonist. ^^ After some details of the story are sorted out, I'll be sure to post the plot sometime. (Maybe you guys will be interested in our webcomic? =D)
