My first Anime Wallpaper!
I found this nice scan in the Eva manga and decided to see about making a wall out of it.
I've put the scan together, but I'm not sure what else it needs...
It seems a bit plain. Please make any suggestions.

Note: Is this ready to submit? :)

Make sure you double check the submission guide before submitting coz rejection costs you 100 paper.
The scan is workable but definitely needs a lot of cleaning.
For ideas, you can do a lot of things with this scan really. You can make it a happy bright wall with lots of sky blue and cloudy background and bright colours for the dress and cross .. You can also apply more dramatic colours like magenta or sunset colours and blending patterns like nebula or space background. You can go completely whacky and apply weird colourful patterns for the sky like many of the Samurai Champloo walls here. Watercolour effects can be really pretty too. Or superimpose some other image of the background - that can work too.
Hope that spiel helps! :)
Good luck!
Ah, I have a few more ideas to put into it. I will see what I can do. (This is fun :) )
I think you can make an awsome wall out of this though. ^_^
Mabey you could change att the black and grey to another color.

I've vectored Asuka and the cross, and started a basic background.
I assume the black hills there are supposed to be grass..?
Still think it's too plain, more clouds perhaps..
For a happy wall, bright contrast colours for sure! Find a happy balance for the red dress, green grass and blue sky - you don't want to make your eyes bleed either if too bright and contrasty.
For sad mood, choose low contrast darker colours, play heaps with lighting for more dramatic effect, but be careful not to dull-ify your wall with too much grey. Perhaps bring out the cross so it's got more of a presence rather than just a dead stick - if you know what I mean.
Hope that helps, good luck!!
First would be to loose the cross and develop a scenic backfround with trees, clouds, birds, hills in the background, picnic table and stuff behind her, some text that hints at inner turmoil, despte the happy setting (asuka doesn't look to cheerful :/) and etc - you know what I mean.
Second would be the opposite. Make the cross the theme and put her in a trashed church, with the sun bursting in through a broken stained glass window. Text maybe if I could think of something cool, but probably not.
Basically one idea is before the shit hits the fan, the other is after. Just some suggestions.
Couple of things I'd do either way would be toning down the sun, as it's kinda dominating everything, but not in a good way, and also punt asuka over a good head to the right. She feels very 'marginalised'. Last would be too rethink that grey wavey line thing - dunno what that is at all :/.

I've updated again:

Larger Size.
This time I've finished the hillside, painted the sky, and added some overall effects.
Everything there came from the scan, I just colored and elaborated.
I'm still not done, but I thought I would add the text and sig.
Improved, ne?
I still find it too plain, so I'm thinking about going on trismugistus's comments, about the picnic scene.. I think that would look nice. I'm up to a challenge. :)
Thanks everyone.

...You've make a very good job!!

...But, i think that you have to work more on the background!
.
.
...try to do something that remembers Evangelion!

I think it is more interesting now. I'll blend the background and foreground better in the end (and color of course).
Possibly add some birds too.
I'm still pondering the picnic idea, I've just been busy working on several other walls.
