Luna's art III

Well it seems that I haven't posted here for a while ("it's only been a month!" you say?) so here is a failed attempt to draw a cover for my sister's agenda cover (we draw pictures on heavy-weight paper and "laminate" them with tape and stick it on our agenda covers that we don't like) (it failed because my sister didn't want something like this on her agenda)... it was drawn on the back of one of those Hilroy thick paper things that come in front of a package of lined paper... ("ugh! so cheap!" you say?) and colored with cheap Laurentien pencil crayons where the leads kept breaking and started scratching up the paper... ("a real artist wouldn't blame their materials for their lack of skill" you say?). Enjoy! Please!

Really nice! I like it a lot. Might I ask, what color did you use for the skin?
I'd say try making the coloring more smooth but like you said, you have those colored pencils that scratch the paper so yeah, it can't be helped :P.

At least you can use pencil crayons!....i cant work in the colour medium im bound by the shackels of my computer >_<
Wow! you are a really professional, XD i like your art...
The positive thing about working with such.. possibly poopy pencils.. is that you get such interesting lines that you can see where you can see what direction you were coloring in.. and those lines are very smooth and consistent, which i think gives the pictures more personality and feelings.. I really like the shading of the face, subtle, but the lips and eye makes it much more intense!
I think there could be more shading or something in the hair to create some more depth, and in the "fur"(?) and green part of the clothing.. that area looks very "flat" to me in comparison with the rest..
p.s nothing wrong with working with poopy materials (whether it be your drawing surface, or pencils). As a fact, I know that many illustrators will use items such as pieces of scotch tape then putting a oil paint glaze over top, and it gives such an interesting effect (and yet is SO low budget!) though, upgrading can be good to help preserve a piece over time (acid-free paper, and acid-free pencils.. or light-fast pencils), which is becoming less needed since a simple scan can allow your piece to "live forever"... then higher graded materials often have a better color selection, colors also sometimes seem to "sit" better on certain papers that hold more color, etc... and sometimes it's the cheapest stuff that works best! lol, it's all about what you wanna use and the look you're trying to achieve (and what you can afford.. lol)

ab-angelMight I ask, what color did you use for the skin?
Hee hee... at first I was using PEACH, but since the lead started scraping the paper really bad I sharpened the pinky-sized pencil crayon some more and the lead broke a couple more times and STILL scratched the paper so I moved onto a slightly longer LIGHT ORANGE... and that was pretty ok! And then at some point I took the wrong color (CHAMPAGNE) and used that instead of the light orange... and so...

Yes yes! I do agree! I don't want to be making excuses for myself, but I already colored too hard and adding any more colors was going to make the paper all... white and flaky... and I don't have enough skill to do that without wrecking the paper some more haha.
Well thanks minna-sama!

Light orange and peach, okay! My avatar, when I was coloring that, I was using a mixture of peach, tan, and light brown, but I'll try the light orange when I create my female character. Thanks!

Luna your artwork looks nice...i havent used coloured pencils for so long.. i think i'll go practise now ^^
Wow! it's awsom!
Wow, this is amazing... the clean, detailed line work on the scarf is the most noticeable thing after the eyes... i was looking at it for a long time xD...
good use of colours, the hair just needs depth for this piece to look complete. ^^
