Is Pokemon really Anime
I'm a fan of the game but I don't like the cartoon very much. I think the Pokemon are cool but my friends and I don't like the characters anyone else feel this way?

Pokemon is nothing more than a stroke of genius by nintendo to sell gameboys to every child under the age of 13.
whether or not its an anime or not i really don't know
i havn't played the games for more than an hour or two and the only things i've seen of it are the movies (which were subbed and forced on me by a friend) and the episode of the tv series where James (from jesse and james in the dub) gets breast implants. an episode which, funilly enough, never got dubed or released for western audiances. I got hold of a raw through a friend that lives in japan (although i have no idea whether it was a fake or not)

Your questions don't really fit the topic heh. But I'll answer the topic first... If anyone cares XD
I think Pokemon is still considered anime since it's drawn in classic Japanese animation style and has a jap op/ed. It still follows a storyline somewhat although not every episode is linked. Kind of like Cardcaptor Sakura and Cowboy Bebop.
The characters aren't the main point of Pokemon though, it's well, the Pokemon that's what drew people and mainly children to it. I've played the gameboy version on an emulator once and after that, didn't play anymore. Pokemon as an anime is at least better than the first Digimon to me, the dubbing is DEFINITELY better than Digimon's dubbing. It's pure stupidity in that one. It became better in the later series but that's another topic =D

Even though it's highly commercialized in America for the big bucks doesn't mean it was "Americanized." It's all about the art style really.

Pokemon, like Yu-Gi-OH and the endless .Hack series to some extent, is a marketing tool, and not a series or anime on its own right. But maybe we could say that about maaaany other series, seeing that merchandise is becoming an obsession this days.
Anyone who plays Magic: The Gathering can learn the Pokemon game within 15 minutes. Too easy.
Anime refers to Japanese animation if we are to use the current norm of its defination. Thus Pokemon is an anime. It's just that its genre is geared towards children.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is also still considered anime and so does the .hack series. They are still counted as anime AND series. The anime is used as a marketing tool but that does not discount them as being anime.
I've never really thought of Pokemon as anime, I just find it too annoying and stupid.

That is a very strong point. Indeed, I have seen very few (if not none at all) anime-exclusive wallpaper galleries with Pokemon wallpapers. It might be that not many people make Pokemon wallpapers (especially since most anime fans don't consider Pokemon a proper anime). But then, it could be other factors as well.
In a literal sense, Pokemon is indeed an actual anime. There is no argument to properly refute this claim. It is, as mentioned above, different than the more mature animes that many anime-fans are used to.

I've seen some people try to make Pokemon walls but fail horribly. The images themselves don't cooperate in a sense. They are mostly animals/creatures and usually a very suitable background would be landscape, scenery, forestry, and sorts.

Like everyone else has said, pokemon is an anime...
its just that its made for kids. just because its made for kids doesn't mean its not anime.
